Untitled edit

We need to know how this actually works, what it does etc etc. Currently this is just a statement of facts - it is used in iplayer etc without any detail. Secretlondon 08:46, 15 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

This is kontiki's reseller in Europe. Secretlondon 09:57, 15 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

How is UPLOADING content to other users a problem for DOWNLOAD limits? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Y Less (talkcontribs) 10:52, 25 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Because conversation is 2 way. Secretlondon 23:02, 28 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
In reality the download side of such a conversation is small in comparison to the upload. The issue is that several ISPs count data uploaded as part of the monthly allowance. paypwip (talk) 20:04, 10 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

shutting down kservice edit

To shut down KService after the provider's program has been closed, the command net stop kservice can be entered into the "Run" dialogue accessed from the Windows Start menu. --rjcuk (talk) 23:17, 28 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Off topic discussion ?? edit

"This extra bandwidth used could make UK ISPs put up their prices or use technical measures such as blocking or traffic shaping to deal with iPlayer traffic. It is estimated that an hour of iPlayer downloads at peak time would cost them 67 pence at BT wholesale prices."

This seems entirely political and not really related to the topic (Kontiki's service uses P2P to deliver content) 90.201.162.242 (talk) 20:17, 2 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Expansion edit

  • Kontiki p2p technology powering UK television online services - we know practically nothing.. Secretlondon 08:36, 15 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Has been over 6 months. Has been moved to talk page. Please expand soon. Vinh1000 (talk) 13:04, 5 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

This is all now out of date. The BBC dropped Kontiki last year (Dec 2008) for AIR and 4oD is now browser based (not sure when they dropped Kontiki); so neither use Kontiki any more as far as I know. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.150.144.2 (talk) 12:46, 29 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

Logo Help & Moving some content to other pages edit

I would like to update the logo, but was unable to do so. If someone could help out in this regard that would be great, the URL to the new logo is here: http://kontiki.com/_img/logo.gif

Also it seems that some of the content on this page is not Kontiki specific, I left it for now, but perhaps it should be moved to other pages and referenced from here. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Bwishon (talkcontribs) 17:21, 14 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Quality of Service edit

This section looks a bit like advertising to me, and not entirely factually correct. It uses the phrase "can offer a guaranteed [QoS] because it can blend traffic downloaded from peers" but this isn't the entire story - if your local ATM network is running at capacity, for example, you can't guarantee QoS. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.97.231.171 (talk) 14:22, 25 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

Moved. Between five and six weeks old with no participation says to me that this request should be granted. And it does appear that this company name has become its COMMONNAME. Kontiki (company)Kollective – Kontiki became Kollective in 2015. Here are two articles referring to this name change: http://cp.wainhouse.com/blog/2015/03/23/kontiki-becomes-kollective https://www.bloomberg.com/research/stocks/private/snapshot.asp?privcapId=1051164 SBrowning123 (talk) 14:32, 19 June 2018 (UTC) Please could you update the company name to Kollective based on evidence provided above?
