Detailed info

Can we add some more info like no. of coaches in a single train, running frequency, distance, times, etc. --Victor D PARLE 21:41, 8 June 2006 (UTC)

A lot of the text on this page is identical to that on the official website! I think that someone has copied the text without including a citation ... are we happy that this is legal? ALECTRIC451 22:21, 19 February 2007 (UTC)

WikiProject class rating

Discrepancy

This entry claims, in its intro, that the Delhi Metro opened in 2004. The Delhi Metro article asserts 2002. One of them needs to be corrected. FWIW, this article originally said 2002 but in Dec 2005, someone changed it to 2004. Gyan (talk) 19:09, 3 March 2008 (UTC)

Weasel words

The article has weasel words throughout. Adding the template tag. --Aveek (talk) 08:35, 15 March 2009 (UTC)

Proposed Article Split

The article has been proposed to be split into two articles. Kolkata Metro Railway and Kolkata Metro with the former for the lines operated by Indian railway and the latter for the new transit system operated by KMRC. It will be similar to the two Tokyo Metros operated by different organizations. Please express your opinion on the proposed split. --Johnxxx9 (talk) 15:45, 23 January 2010 (UTC)

I don't think that's necessary, especially since there are only two lines. Jpatokal (talk) 06:20, 10 February 2010 (UTC)
I concur with Jpatokal since KMRC is constructing only 1 line (East - West) and is just about 13.7 km. If they're proposing more corridors in future, we can split it up. :-) -- Coolguyche17 (talk) 21:48, 21 February 2010 (UTC)

I would say that it should be split because Calcutta Metro will be extended in the future ( New extensions being proposed by Railway Minister,so it wont just a single line strech) & it uses a different operating technology(Read London Tubes ) & East West Metro is completely a different entity managed by a diffrent company sans Indian Railways.Hence I strongly pitch for the fact that East West Metro be segregated & should be titled 'Kolkata East west Metro'.However both the entities can come under Mass Rapid Transport System in Kolkata :-) .Thanks! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 62.189.169.182 (talk) 13:20, 2 March 2010 (UTC)

Comment:I think it is a good idea but should be implemented after the inauguration of the East-West metro as we have no idea if the construction will proceed as planned. If all goes well, this article can be moved to Kolkata Metro Railway, Kolkata Metro article needs to be created and both should be linked through an article Kolkata Subway or a disambig page. I request the split tags to be removed from the article. --WorLD8115(TalK) 06:42, 25 April 2010 (UTC)

Suggestion To Change/Modify Synatx [Section: Route]

Current Syntax

Currently, in the route section this syntax is being followed:
Code: # Kavi Subhash metro station
Result: # Kavi Subhash metro station

Further Info

Kolkata Metro Railway - Official Site - for extention details — Preceding unsigned comment added by 119.226.23.254 (talk) 06:45, 24 July 2013 (UTC)

Point I want to highlight

It creates two different link (for this example Subhash Mukhopadhyay and Kavi Subhash Metro Station).

Positive point

The current syntax also gives information on the person on who the station is named.

Negative point

If someone creates on the first part of the link, it'll take to person's biography page which is not completely relevant.

Suggestion

I propose to change the syntax like this:
Code: # Kavi Subhash Metro Station, named after Bengali poet Subhash Mukhpadhyay

Result: # Kavi Subhash Metro Station, named after Bengali poet Subhash Mukhpadhyay --Tito Dutta (Talk) 11:12, 28 July 2011 (UTC)

 • Support. Suggested syntax is fine. The present syntax on the artilce looks odd. Guitarist(talk|contributions)07:33, 29 July 2011 (UTC)

Sunday working

Does it still have a bizarre Sunday opening time, viz about 14:00?!?! And more to the point, does anyone know why""? Are the staff sleeping off the HASH SESSION?!   81.178.246.203 (talk) 12:42, 1 April 2013 (UTC)

Lines under construction?

The article makes the implausible claim that there are five lines simultaneously under construction already -- got source? AFAIK, only Line 2 is actually being worked on. Jpatokal (talk) 12:22, 27 July 2013 (UTC)

3rd Rail type

Is the 3rd rail:

 • bottom contact
 • side contact
 • top contact ? Tabletop (talk) 11:56, 6 October 2014 (UTC)
