It's notable because it is one of the most important ideas for understanding Japanese government and ideology from the Meiji era to WWII. It should have a much more substantial entry Alanba42 (talk) 17:18, 30 September 2008 (UTC)

Essay Tagging edit
There was a tag on this article dated June/July 2010, indicating that the article "reads like an essay" and that it needed copywork or other editing. I'm not clear which editor tagged the article, as the edit summaries from that period are blank. I have removed this tag. The article, in my opinion, reads acceptably well.
