Location

I don't dispute that the movie may have been filmed in New Orleans, but the story takes place in and around Boston all the same. There are numerous references to Boston-area neighborhoods, and many of the characters speak in Boston accents. Star Wars was filmed in California but that doesn't mean the story takes place there. I saw this film, and there is no way to know from the content of the film itself where it is set. This is not Mystic River or The Departed where it is clear as day that the setting is Boston. If Boston-area neighborhoods are mentioned, that is information of meaning only to those with knowledge of said neighborhoods; certainly the filmmakers did not make it clear where it was set. Until there is a reliable source stating where the film is set (not the book), leave the location as an anonymous urban setting. – Mark K Adams (talk) 06:27, 29 May 2013 (UTC)

This is incorrect

Driver has paid Jackie less than the full fee that had been negotiated.

During their discussions over whether to bring in Mickey Fallon, Driver asks whether Mickey will do it for 10k, this implies that Dillon's fee was going to be 10k and hence Jackie would also be paid 10k for filling in for Dillon. Plot correction

Jackie actually tries to talk driver out of having Marky beaten up. He says it's useless because Marky has to die, and " besides" it is a really unpleasant experience for Marky." He repeats this several times to Driver. Jackie, whose name is never mentioned in the film, sees himself as a "nice guy." He kills people for $ yet he in the American context is not a bad person. At the end of the film Jackie delivers a devasting speech re Thomas Jefferson and the falsehood of the American Dream." paraphrasing here; "because Jefferson wrote the words all men are created equal and aroused the rabble and they went out and died for those words which he clearly didn't mean because he allowed his own children to live in slavery. Don't make me laugh. He was a rich wine snob who was sick of paying taxes to the Brits so he sat back and fucked his slave girl. Don't make me laugh. America's not a country. It's just a business.
