english version edit

I find "Khomutovka Raion" is more precise, naming the center. As well you won't say "Kurskaya Oblast" but Kursk Oblast in English version. Translating to near on russian version is somewhat misleading, especially for people not common with russian place names.--129.187.244.28 (talk) 15:36, 2 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

I have reverted. "Khomutovsky District" is in line with the Russian districts naming conventions used in the English Wikipedia, which is in line with WP:RUS, which, in turn, is in line with the BGN/PCGN romanization of Russian system (on which WP:RUS is based). On the other hand, "Kursk Oblast" is a conventional English name (i.e., not a romanization), and also in line with WP:RUS. Please see WP:RUS for further details.—Ëzhiki (Igels Hérissonovich Ïzhakoff-Amursky) • (yo?); 15:49, November 2, 2009 (UTC)
