Operation Matterhorn edit

There is nothing mentioned in this article about the key role that the airfields around Kharagpur played in WWII's Operation Matterhorn in 1944. It would be useful to add, as it was a significant element in ending WWII in the Pacific. -- 63.224.135.113 (talk) 15:39, 2 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Kharagpur, West BengalKharagpur – Its only a redirect to the primary topic, with Kharagpur redirecting to the article Amartyabag TALK2ME 03:24, 5 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

  • Comment. Kharagpur (disambiguation) would need to be immediately edited per MOS:DAB standards (specifically the standards outlined in the section "Linking to a primary topic") in conjunction with this move. So, I'm not really contesting this move, but due to this situation, this move cannot be properly done without Kharagpur (disambiguation) being edited either first, or at the same time as the move. • Support. Editing Kharagpur (disambiguation) along with the move is not a difficult task. - Chandan Guha (talk) 07:13, 5 February 2013 (UTC)Reply
  • Support. Kharagpur already redirects here. Any time "A" redirects to "A, B" (or to "A (B)" for that matter), and the topic is commonly known, to those familiar with the topic, as "A", the article should be moved to "A". --Born2cycle (talk) 01:01, 6 February 2013 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose, since the current name is the best balance between shortness and descriptiveness. Omnedon (talk) 05:49, 6 February 2013 (UTC)Reply
  • Support: When Wikipedia treats the West Bengal version as the primary topic, a disambiguator is not required, so there is no need for a best balance between shortness and descriptiveness. I suspect that a city of 326,000 people in West Bengal has a far greater claim to be the primary topic than a town of 26,000 people in Bihar, which most people (even in India) have probably never even heard of. • Support: same reason as Skinsmoke.--GDibyendu (talk) 14:46, 6 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

Cleanup edit

The article is in a very urgent need of a major cleanup, not only the majority of the article is based on original research/unsourced, the claims can be misleading and filled with Peacock words. Anyone willing to clear up the mess? Amartyabag TALK2ME 15:45, 6 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

PIN CODE The PIN code should be more appropriately 721301 (Kharagpur SO) and not 721302 (Kharagpur Technology/IIT PO). The PIN 721301 covers more extensively the area of Kharagpur.
