Non-uniform edit

Whenever I type in a first name, I get a list of people with that name. This seems to be the only name I can find that doesn't do that. It needs to be fixed. ---SilentRAGE! 02:00, 6 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

History edit

I am coping this form what i just put in the Ciaran article : http://www.ireland-information.com/heraldichall/irishboysnames.htm i quote 'The name Ciara is generally ancient Celtic. It is taken from the old Gaelic word "kir", meaning black (as in the night). The male version of Ciara is Ciaran, which is the early form of Kevin'Blacksmith2 07:22, 8 June 2007 (UTC) (This is incorrect, Ciara(n) is not associated with Kevin. Caoimhe (Quee-Va) is the feminised variation of Kevin.Reply

Kevin Kuan is important, but he is not 11 years he is 25 years old and is a telephone analyst. Please include him. Thank you —Preceding unsigned comment added by 164.53.222.28 (talk) 02:36, 30 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

Kevin Hosford is an Irish Criminologist based in Ireland, please include him.

Kevin Leckie edit

The author is incorrect in the meaning of "Kevin" as the "Roman God to War". The Roman war god was Mars and has nothing to do with this name. And his noted citation source gives a definition of "Handsome, Beloved". St. Kevin article sites the names original gaelic meaning is "fair begotten". 74.14.238.25 20:33, 18 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Kevin Gildea edit

Scholars maintain that the forename "Kevin" is derived from the spanish variant "Armando", which means of course The Roller of Sleepingbags. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 134.226.254.178 (talk) 15:16, 16 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

Kevin as a surname edit

'Kevin' is also an exceptonally rare surname, but it does exist. Perhaps there should be a mention of this in the article? Also, what's up with the above comment?

Girl's counterpart? edit

Just thought it was a little strange how this article says "Its female version is Kevina (pronounced kev-EE-nə)." but then goes on to say, one paragraph later "There is no specific female variation of the name, though the Irish name Caoimhín has a girls counterpart Caoimhe". 76.178.153.225 (talk) 20:55, 7 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

Fair point. The source given doesn’t mention the name "Kevina" at all, so I’ve removed it. And the female version of Caoimhín is Caoimhe; the anglicised form of that is Keavy, or Keeva. Swanny18 (talk) 20:12, 18 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Kevinism edit

Maybe we should add a few sentences about how Kevin isn't a particularly well-regarded name outside the Anglophone community, with notable examples being France and German-speaking areas. The German Wikipedia has an entire article titled "Kevinismus" which deals about how people with that particular name (among others) are generally seen as lower-class, of aberrant behaviour and possessing lots of other negative traits, often subconsciously - which leads to grave side effects such as teachers giving kids with that particular name worse marks, even if they don't actually mean to. A similar phenomenon is seen in France, as this BBC article highlights. --195.71.21.217 (talk) 10:33, 19 March 2017 (UTC)Reply

Done I don't know which Kevin O'Leary you mean, but since we have several articles on people with that name, I added an entry that leads to the disambiguation page, Kevin O'Leary (disambiguation). Largoplazo (talk) 17:54, 13 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
