The Wikipedia manual of style says that article titles and language should be in US English by default. Furthermore, it states that the most commonly used word or phrase should be used. Since Kerbside collection is only used in the UK, and Curbside recycling is used elsewhere, I propose that this article be moved to Curbside recycling. PumeleonT 19:52, 12 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

  • Support. (But then, I'm from the U.S.) --Quuxplusone (talk) 05:42, 14 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
  • Support as it makes more sense in Canadian English (collection? Collection of garbage? of major appliances? of hazardous waste?) 70.51.11.210 (talk) 11:49, 14 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose. Have you seen WP:ENGVAR? "Retain existing variety". Wikipedia has no preference for US English over any other. 87.114.14.216 (talk) 21:33, 14 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose WP:ENGVAR (and colour, yoghurt etc) are clear - we do not move between national English varieties on grounds of "pervasiveness", perceived or otherwise. The guideline exists for good reason; if you disagree with it, change the guideline first to change the articles, in that order. Knepflerle (talk) 21:54, 14 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
    • "The Wikipedia manual of style says that article titles and language should be in US English by default." - it should be stated that this is absolutely false. There is no statement even vaguely approaching that in the MoS. It states that varieties are equal except in the case of a topic of clearly regional importance. Kerbside -> Curbside edit

This page should use the American spelling. Curbside with a K is unfamiliar and foreign to many wikipedians.--Pawn0 o (talk) 17:20, 14 October 2017 (UTC)Reply
