As per Wikipedia:Disambiguation pages with links, there should be no links to disambiguation pages. Given that the number of links to disambiguation pages is growing, and becoming a bigger problem could you please try to disambiguate the links to one of the options on that page. Good call. We have been changing "Kannada" link to "Kannada language" link in so many places. Still it is quite natural for some editor to link as Kannada whenever they write Kannada word, as that is the primary meaning.

Shall we have contents in Kannada language in the article by name Kannada and have a separate disambiguation page like Kannada_(disambiguation) to include links to Kannada script and Kannada literature ? - KNM ^{Talk - Contribs} 21:43, 17 September 2006 (UTC)

Given the number of pages that link to Kannada, it'll be too much to examine every usage of Kannada and change them to reflect the right page. Instead what we should do is, we should change it on the lines of Ponna. On Ponna page, there is a link which points to the disambig page. Similarly, we should use {{otheruses}} on Kannada language page to lead people to the disambig page. The use of "Kannada" to refer to the Kannada language is very widespread and we cant keep correcting new editors every day. My 2 cents. Sarvagnya 22:08, 17 September 2006 (UTC)

Works for me. As further reasoning for making those changes, I found that Kannada language 500+ articles linking it and the other two Kannadas have less than 100 combined. Nevermind. The Kannada language page links both the Kannada literature and Kannada script articles in its text, so I didn't deem it necessary to edit the language page. --Oatmeal batman 02:53, 18 September 2006 (UTC)

I went ahead and did one more step. Created Kannada_(disambiguation) page and included the disambiguation information which was present in this page (previous Kannada disambig page) earlier. Now those who search on Kannada will be taken to Kannada language article and will be presented with a message, with the help of {{dablink}} template, "for other uses see Kannada disambig page". Redirect produces many false links

This redirect produces many false links. English does not redirect to English language.

I am already fixing wrong links. A lot come from Kannada translations/transcriptions of english/latin words. Anyone with autowiki browser to help here? UnLoCode (talk) 13:13, 3 June 2008 (UTC)

Will you be changing thousands of pages which are now pointing to Kannada, to Kannada language? If you do not do that, then all those links will be pointed to this disambig page, which is not an acceptable solution. We have already Kannada (disambiguation) page, and the link to it is already provided on top of the Kannada language page. So what is the issue here?

This has been discussed in the past, and the consensus based result of that discussion was to create the disambig page, and leave the Kannada link redirected to Kannada language article.
