Info box says 1981, history says 1980. Anyone know which is correct? Vegaswikian 02:55, 17 April 2007 (UTC) Yes, the station signed on-air April 23rd, 1981. The prose discussed the ENTIRE history including the closed circuit "station" KJON. Color me somewhat skeptical.

Sounds like a whole lot of original research. Even more like a puff piece written by someone on the inside.

I recall reading in one of the Vegas weeklies that the station was effectively bought off into the "smooth jazz" format by some wealthy donors, and "Rock Ave" was put to bed.

Honestly, neither of the so-called "alternative" stations in Las Vegas got much past butt-rock. The first thing I noticed upon moving to the city was the complete lack of a decent college alternative station like the ones I'd enjoyed listening to in upstate NY. KUNV pretty much played Kenny G-style smooth jazz incessantly.

The story did seem to have a bit of a happy ending at least. Once an even WORSE commercial "smooth jazz" station which could actually be heard throughout Henderson (seriously, KUNV has always been static once you get to Henderson proper), the station actually reduced the muzak-inflected "smooth jazz" pap it had been playing and started playing a fair bit more real jazz. Not enough to make me a listener though.

It's still what it has been since the changeover. A college station that doesn't even attempt to serve its audience of college students anything they might actually want to listen to. That's a shame. TimBRoy (talk) 14:58, 24 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

I removed this from the article as it is a list of people. See WP:OR, and WP:NOT. There is also an issue of WP:Notability.
