Common Law Wife

I just changed the term "common law wife" to "de facto spouse", since under Quebec law, there is no such thing as a "common law" marriage (seeing as how Quebec's private law is based on the civilian tradition and not on common law). Couples who have co-habitated for a certain time and who act like married couples for all intents and purposes are called "de facto spouses", both in the Civil Code (articles 15, 555, and 1938), and consequently by English-speaking jurists in Quebec. 24.157.205.208 (talk) 00:21, 26 June 2013 (UTC)Reply
