This page should not be speedily deleted because... (The article satisfies WP:NFOOTBALL due to the subject having made an appearance in the A-League on 3 January 2020 against Melbourne City FC.) --Simione001 (talk) 13:16, 4 January 2020 (UTC)Reply

Should coming out be included in article? edit

Simione001 keeps removing the section about him coming out as gay. My view is that it's covered in multiple worldwide sources, including BBC, Guardian, [1] to just name a few. It's not WP:UNDUE if it's well-published, and as he's one of the first ever male football/soccer players to do so. Joseph2302 (talk) 11:24, 27 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

  • He should be looked upon as a human and not be defined as either gay or straight - it makes no difference. So in response I say no because there should be nothing abnormal or special about being gay so why pidgeon hole the individual by making a note of there sexual orientation in the article? It is infact quite normal to be gay so why make a point of it. Also, wikipedia should not serve as a kind of database for determining peoples orientation.Simione001 (talk) 11:33, 27 October 2021 (UTC)Reply
    • I think even a casual review of the sources provided (and/or a Google search for the response to this announcement) shows the reasons why this announcement is notable. The fact that Cavallo is the only current pro footballer to have come out (given that, as Simione0001 says above, homosexuality is of course not uncommon), is particularly significant and certainly warrants inclusion in this article in my view. • Strong agree. It is normal that we mention the sexuality of people who have come out on Wikipedia. It is important that we do so when his is currently the only out top-flight male player. It may not be Simione001's intention, but suppressing that information would be POV and, frankly, homophobic. — OwenBlacker (he/him; Talk; please {{ping}} me in replies) 12:29, 27 October 2021 (UTC)Reply
