Was John Shields related to Daniel Boone?
editMany family histories claim an ancestor was related to the famous American pioneer Daniel Boone without presenting any evidence of how they were related. This also appears to be true for the John Shields family. Boone and Shields hunted and trapped together, but Shields was already known for being a great hunter who helped Lewis and Clark travel to the Oregon Coast and back. Boone probably loved hearing the first hand stories that Shields had to tell. Boone had never seen a grizzly bear, Shields might have been one of the hunters that killed a grizzly bear in 1805. Does anyone have any evidence that John Shields was related to Daniel Boone? Jerry Stockton (talk) 17:06, 21 January 2017 (UTC)
