John I Rolle
editWhy is he "John I Rolle" rather than "John Rolle I"? It makes it appear that he has a middle name beginning in "I".Deb (talk) 16:32, 12 October 2013 (UTC)
- That's a good point, Deb. There's a clear benefit to the use of some form of identification like this in articles that deal with pedigrees and descents because multiple members of the same family often have the same first name. However, has the use of this format gained consensus, Lobsterthermidor? I can't see anything in the WP:MOS, and WP:QUALIFIER only touches on the problem, though it suggests the use of the date of death as a disambiguator. —SMALLJIM 20:59, 8 May 2016 (UTC)
