editThe Van Ness mausoleum was not located in Oak Hill Cemetery at the time of Peter Van Ness' death - it stood on H Street, NW between Ninth and Tenth Streets until 1872, when it was moved to Oak Hill (see James Goode's Outdoor Sculpture of Washington, D.C. for more details).
