I noticed that the ancestrial history of President John F. Kennedy was reasonably well documented in Wikipedia, even though possibly only his father Joseph P. Kennedy among his ancestors would rate an individual article for noteworthy accomplishment.

However, since Wikipedia is not limited to those of noteworthy accomplishment, but also to those of reference interest, I do feel it is entirely appropriate to include JFK's grandfather and those further back.

Thus, if such inclusions are appropriate, inclusion of a common ancestor of at least four known U.S. Presidents would likewise be appropriate.

Lothropp

edit

His name was John Lothropp. Lathrop is a more modern spelling of his surname. There is a more accurate artiicle at John Lothropp I suggest this spelling of his name be forwarded to that article with a reference to his genealogical significance added there. Any objections? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Jonathan.lathrop (talkcontribs) 04:36, 12 February 2007 (UTC).Reply

second name change

I second that John's last name should be changed to the name he used, Lothropp. After reading the John Lothropp article I feel that this article should be deleted but the commonly used contemporary surname should point to the correct surname. Robert Lathrop 16:25, 6 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

I don't know which name is more accurate, or which one should be used here, but there are two articles and they should be merged, this one and John Lothropp Isaac Crumm 02:57, 8 July 2007 (UTC)Reply
I have merged them. Charles Matthews 20:47, 11 July 2007 (UTC)Reply
