I am John Flourney Montgomery's grandson. In his book , after speaking about the ill advised settlements made subsequent to WWI, he said "When will America learn that you cannot take a country with three diverse ethnic groups and form a democracy."

Apparently America has yet to learn that lesson. The blowup over Yugoslavia was not enough.

On the other hand maybe the Bush administration did recognize the problem but went into Iraq anyway for reasons of their own.I wonder what they could have been.
