Commerce or Communications? edit
On 8 December 2022 I changed Chalmers' degree from Communications to Commerce based on his APH bio and Griffith Uni abbreviations. I added a ref to a news story from Griffith Uni. On 30 January 2023 my edit was undone, including removal of the news story citation, by an IP without explanation.
Chalmers' APH bio includes "BCom (Griffith University)". Griffith University's Schedule of Abbreviations for University Awards lists the abbreviation Com for Commerce (and Comm for Communication). The June 2022 news story from Griffith Uni has "Jim Chalmers ... Bachelor of Commerce graduate..."
However, other places online have interpreted BCom as Communication/s, eg this has "BA Communications", and this has "Bachelor of Communication". Does anyone have any ideas how to determine which is correct? JennyOz (talk) 04:04, 7 February 2023 (UTC)

- About these bachelors degrees. It is confusing. I think that's because Griffith University awards "Bachelor of Communication and Journalism/Bachelor of Business" as we can see here.
- From the sources, I think it's clear that Jim Chalmers has been awarded the following:
- Bachelor of Arts in Communications from Griffith University as per this and he did an honours program under John Wanna in public policy, which we know from the following book I note that the descriptor is used by other graduates of that time, such as this current lecturer. Who's Who in Australia lists him as having "BA (Hons) (Griffith), PhD (ANU)" and that's it.[1]
- Bachelor of Commerce from Griffith University which is attested on the official Parliamentary directory you mention and reliable sources, such as SBS and Griffith University's own publication here and here.
