Half Brother

I'm surprised there is no mention of her half brother, Nikos; they both share the same father, but have different mothers. According to Jewel's account in the song, the reason her father was excommunicated from the church was because of his relationship with Nikos' mother, Linda. You can view the song here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zvQtB-3KbN0 Uhhuhhim (talk) 01:06, 8 March 2008 (UTC)

Fine Article

This is a fine article: applause! You critics are too harsh. One point. The main article states that: "She started writing songs at the age of seventeen.[11]" But the singer states in "Jewel from the Realto Square Theatre Part 1 (#1404)" a live performance, that she started writing songs at the age of sixteen. http://www.mpt.org/schedule/series.cfm?series_id=12378#168374 rumjal 20:55, 6 April 2008 (UTC)

longest chart run

Folks I'm no expet on Wikipedia but I read an article in November which I want to share with you because some of you will know how to make the corrections and I won't mess anything up.

The article is from http://www.billboard.com/bbcom/search/google/article_display.jsp?vnu_content_id=1003676768

November 23, 2007, by Fred Bronson, which states that LeAnn Rimes has the record for longest chart run on the hot 100 at 69 weeks on the charts.

It's possible that Jewel no longer holds 2nd place.

New Photo

i think that the photo needs to be replaced with a more recent one! —Preceding unsigned comment added by MariAna Mimi (talkcontribs) 19:33, 17 September 2008 (UTC)

Who exactly "discovered her"?

As the title says, who discovered her, according to the article it was flea and then there was there the other one. --MoRsE (talk) 16:28, 13 December 2008 (UTC)

Move

Why was this moved to Jewel Kilcher? She's known professionally as Jewel, and per WP:NC, pages should match the most common name. She's credited as just Jewel in sources and on albums; therefore, her most commonly recognized name is Jewel. Birth/"Origin"/Nationality

Please, in keeping with standards, this person is an American. Until we begin referring to Kurt Cobain as a "Washington musician" or Kurt Weill as a "Saxony-Anhalt composer," we should introduce Jewel as American. After the introduction, it would then be appropriate to mention her upbringing and notable Alaskan achievements. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.232.58.2 (talk) 19:22, 6 April 2009 (UTC)

So far, there wasn't any serious violations on the rule. Jewel is originally from Alaska as she states and was billed from, despite the fact her birthplace was Payson, Utah when her parents briefly lived there. + Mike D 26 (talk) 08:23, 27 November 2009 (UTC)

"Personal Life" NEEDS EDITING!!

The section "Personal Life" happens to be very short and I ask if anyone would help extend it. Multimusiclover1 (talk) 01:12, 13 September 2009 (UTC)

If you do not want to expand the section, please place {{Expand-section|date=September 2009}} at the top of the section. But remember not to spam articles with it. Also, remember to put new messages at the bottom of the talk page. You can also click the "new section" tab, also, try and keep the section title very short yet informative. Anyone watching this article will also receive an alert when the talk page is edited, as I did. • S • C • A • R • C • E • 09:45, 13 September 2009 (UTC)

Is this needed?

In the project clean water section the image:

File:Katyobamaos.JPG
Katy Perry's I Kissed A Girl lyrics written on a box of Obama O's.

has nothing to do with Jewel or even the section that it is in, so is it really needed? Multimusiclover1 (talk) 17:25, 13 September 2009 (UTC)

I have removed it from the article. Additionally the image is up for deletion discussion as the copyright claim seems pretty dubious (work of the FDA -- hunh?), it may be deleted as non-free, and I don't thinks it is so important to the article that it would qualify for a fair use rationale. Early years: "For a time, she was poverty-stricken and lived in her van"

This line is inaccurate and a sensational fabrication. I quote the cited source: "Jewel decided that she was going
to make her living by her music no matter what, quitting her day job to live in her van."
(http://www.popmatters.com/music/reviews/j/jewel-liveathumphreysdvd.shtml). Which is a lot closer to the facts. The
cited article never used the word "poverty" or "poverty-stricken". I live in San Diego and followed Jewel's early
career in the local music pages. My understanding is this: Jewel had a decent job (waiting tables) and an apartment.
She and her mother (who was managing Jewel's early singing career) decided they would each buy vans that were
properly equipped for living. Jewel would quit her job, thereby allowing her to concentrate all her time and effort
on her singing/songwriting. Both of them would live in their vans that they had parked near the coffee houses that
Jewel was singing in.
None of this implies being "poverty-stricken". Jewel and her Mother made choices that allowed them to save money
and free-up time.--2010 Observer (talk) 19:21, 11 May 2010 (UTC)

Early years: "She gained some recognition by singing at the Innerchange Coffeehouse and Java Joe's in San Diego, California."

This is an understatement of the first order. In fact Jewel was dicovered by Atlantic executives while
singing at the Innerchange ( as it is noted later in the article). True, she had "gained some recognition" prior to
being discovered by Atlantic, but there needs to be more clarification and coordination in the article.--2010 Observer (talk) 19:53, 11 May 2010 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 2010 Observer (talkcontribs) 19:45, 11 May 2010 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Goodbye Alice in Wonderland (song)

The article Goodbye Alice in Wonderland (song) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Single songs generally do not meet the requirements of WP:N, Article clearly states does does not meet notability, no references

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. JeepdaySock (AKA, Jeepday) 15:29, 11 October 2010 (UTC)

this prevent delete blah blah is really complicated bullshit for the "common" person to be "free" to edit. You need a degree to agree or disagree with deletion on a "free" web page. You get bandwidth hosting money fromsome place, use some of it to hirea programmerto spurn a vote to delete button. cease and desist button. I almost cold jacked this entire delete thing, since I have no idea what or where ..>.>.,><,,>,.<>,>whackaweewee<<><><...<. is to remove it..my opinion on it is, the bitch made the song sang the song. leave it. itheundersignedblahbullshitwikisignbotthingy. ps this isn't a trolling post the language might be a little harsh but so are the editing methods.

"In My Room"

The song "In My Room" which appears on The Merry Goes 'Round is not the same as "In My Room" by the Beach Boys.

Everyday Angels and Jewelstock

Jewel has been very communicative with her fanbase, especially during the Pieces of You years. Someone has already mentioned the Everyday Angels, and Jewel gave a two-day concert (Patty Griffin opened) called JewelStock July 18th and 19th, 1996. [1] Should this information be included in the Jewel article? 186.2.136.6 (talk) 17:04, 11 October 2015 (UTC)Scott Broughton

Removal of Mormon categorization

I added Category:Former Latter Day Saints to Jewel's page, however this was not accurate and it was reverted. If so, then this page should also be corrected: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_former_Latter_Day_Saints — Preceding unsigned comment added by Deaddebate (talkcontribs) 14:46, 16 October 2016 (UTC)

Done. Thank you for pointing this out. The source used there only mentioned a rumor about Ms. Kilcher's Mormon upbringing; it did not confirm that she is ex-Mormon. Rebbing 15:11, 16 October 2016 (UTC)

Philanthropy section needs major work

Everything after the first paragraph reads as if lifted directly from an organization biography aimed at donors. Anybody available to dig deeper and clean this section up? Denstat (talk) 04:50, 23 April 2019 (UTC)

Article issues

On an initial fast read there are two issues: 1)- Citation tags, 2)- "External links" entries. This is listed as a B-class article with six involved projects. The "criteria" (#1) states, The article is suitably referenced, with inline citations. It has reliable sources, and any important or controversial material which is likely to be challenged is cited.
There has been a move to add Curlie, AllMusic, and IMDb, justifiable or not, on too many biographical articles.
Others usually added include Grammy Award, AllMovie, TCM Movie Database, Internet Broadway Database, Find a Grave if relevant, and a host of others. Many of these provide nothing "unique" for further research and often mirror information between them. -- Otr500 (talk) 07:51, 6 June 2021 (UTC)
