Cousin of Eric Bruno Borgman

edit

"Foxworthy is seventh cousin to actor and independent filmmaker Eric Bruno Borgman." Sheesh, 7th cousin? Why is that encyclopedic? Kaszeta 21:05, 7 Sep 2004 (UTC)

  • I think it is worthy of note. Possibly there is an actor gene in their DNA from sharing the same ancestor. Vagrant
    • Yes. Great. An "acting gene". Very likely. -R. fiend 17:00, 15 Feb 2005 (UTC)
  • Any claim of Jeff Foxworthy being cousins to either Eric Bruno Borgman or Bill Engvall are incorrect- I'm not sure where anyone got this information and the fact that no one has been able to produce any evidence is reason enough to remove the references. Mouseclicker 21:56, 28 January 2006 (UTC)Reply
How can you make a statement proclaiming something incorrect when you have no idea where the information came from? The information, by the way, came from the IMDB. Also Borgman was invited to appear on the Jay and Kevin radio show last year for being Foxworthy's cousin. [1] Your statement doesn't stack up to the facts. Vagrant 00:30, 29 January 2006 (UTC)Reply
  • Since when has something been *true* until proven false? I hardly call IMDB a reliable source and can cite numerous examples where they put up obviously erroneous information (such as claiming Richard Simmons would provide the voice of Tingle in the next Zelda game.) Unless you have Jeff Foxworthy himself claiming Borgman or Engvall are his cousins, or can produce some sort of verifiable document (i.e. not geocities) or genealogical table, I think we should keep the information out of the article. Wikipedia is not a place where it should be considered good practice to add information first and verify later. Mouseclicker 07:02, 29 January 2006 (UTC)Reply
Agreed with Mouseclicker, I looked on google all over to find some kind of citation, and there literally is nothing. Engvall's own cite mentions nothing of being related, nor does Foxworthy mention such a relationship. Further searching on the internet provided nothing. Wangfoo 07:15, 29 January 2006 (UTC)Reply
Jeff is not related to Engvall or whoever this other person is!

2000s "before" 1995?

edit

The 2000s Blue Collar Tour paragraph needs to be moved to follow, not precede, Foxworthy's 1995-99 TV show & standup comic worth. (Or else, indicate the out-of-chron.-order is present for humorus purposes... :') )

Thanks Bwefler 00:03, 11 Mar 2005 (UTC)

  • Fixed it. Bwefler 18:49, 11 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Picture of Foxworthy

Can someone please find a more current picture of Foxworthy than the one that's on the page right now? Willbyr 18:07, 21 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

Whats wrong with that picture? Hot Curry 10:11, 23 March 2006 (UTC)Reply
Ah, it's been changed...much better. Willbyr 22:40, 23 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

14 million copies

edit

I would like to see the editor who claimed Foxworthy's album "you might be a redneck if" provide a reliable source for this claim (I have removed the edit). I highly doubt that it sold 14 million, the same as world-wide major pop albums. Foxworthys album was not a major hit outside North America (in Europe it only had resonable sales in the thousands) and it certianly wasn't sitting at #1 in the charts for weeks on end selling like Garth Brooks!. 74.65.39.59 12:15, 23 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

It looks like the person who added that statistic got a bit confused about a claim that Jeff Foxworthy's *total* album sales have topped 15 million copies. I don't have any verification of that fact, but I have seen it mentioned quite a bit.

As for sales of "You Might Be A Redneck If..." specifically, I've seen many places claim it has sold 4 million copies but haven't been able to lock a good source on that. However, the RIAA's website lists it as being certified triple platinum, so that statistic at the very least is good for the main article.70.244.98.222 19:04, 4 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Sub-categories tag removed

edit

I added sub-categories to this article (and made some other minor improvements); after assessing, I removed the tag. ProfessorPaul 03:49, 9 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Books

edit

I was going to change the current works section and do a new subsection on his books as there are Lots of his books missing from this page. Anyone have comments/suggestions? Geoff 10 March 2008 —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.219.122.88 (talk) 17:01, 10 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Birthname: Foxworthy or Fox?

edit

Jeff's Blueprint (Georgia Tech yearbook) picture is labeled Fox. Is this his birth name or an error? If Fox is his birth name, then the names of his parents are probably wrong. 98.66.174.135 (talk) 17:51, 30 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

Never mind, I found his freshman yearbook and he's Foxworthy. The other must have been a misprint.74.232.117.175 (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 05:15, 9 July 2009 (UTC).Reply

Should be mentioned that he has the most album sales of any comedian ever

edit

http://www.forbes.com/2009/07/13/top-earning-comedians-business-entertainment-top-earning-comedians_slide_9.html

I'd just like it mentioned, in the summary, that foxworthy is the best selling comedian of all time as far as album sales go -- according to Forbes. I have already had the claim removed from Weird Al Yankovichs site, since foxworthy has outsold him by 3-4 million copies, on far, far, far fewer albums. So, now that it's removed from Weird Al, it should be added to the rightful owner of the title. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.39.85.101 (talk) 17:00, 3 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

Jeff Foxworthy Protestant?

edit

I know that Jeff Foxworthy is a devote Christian and is a host for The American Bible Challenge and was best known for hosting Are You Smarter Than A Fifth Grader? but I am not sure if he's Protestant. I don't know whether if he is protestant or not. Doesn't make any sense to me. Ashbeckjonathan 23:01, 19 May 2013 (UTC)

I have removed the category since it is not mentioned (with source) in the article. --Musdan77 (talk) 04:31, 20 May 2013 (UTC)Reply
The category for American Protestants may not have been relevant as substantiated by any sources, but the source does make it clear he fits into the parent category of American Protestants - Category:American Christians, which I put back in the article.
