Picture needed edit

The article needs pictures of this murderer, to facilitate his identification and possible bringing to justice. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 217.218.26.34 (talk) 07:45, 4 February 2018 (UTC)Reply

Where is he now? edit

I think it is important that this section be included. He has publicly stated he is proud of his actions, so why not have some discussion of where he is/may be on this page, especially seeing he is "in hiding" mbp

Okay, as long as you show me where any other encyclopaedic article in history has had that kind of section Sherurcij (talk) (Terrorist Wikiproject) 01:41, 31 January 2006 (UTC)Reply
changed my mind because I came across this example: Osama_bin_Laden#Whereabouts Pretty much answers that ridiculous challenge. mbp 9 Feb 2006

Why should I show you anything? The man is "proud" of his work. Where he is now is of interest to many people. mbp

WP:V, WP:NOR may be of use to you Sherurcij (talk) (Terrorist Wikiproject) 01:24, 4 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

Dear Sherurcij: I have now done three reverts so won't break that rule by doing more. I may come back with something later that tries to compromise. I have pasted some reading from the Wiki Rules for you too, please. Stay Cool:
Wikipedia:Policies_and_guidelines
  • Those who edit in good faith, show civility, seek consensus, and work towards the goal of creating a great encyclopedia, should find a welcoming environment.
  • Respect other contributors. —Wikipedia contributors come from many different countries and cultures, and have widely different views. Treating others with respect is key to collaborating effectively in building an encyclopedia.
  • When discussing an issue, stay cool and don't mount personal attacks. Take the other person's perspective into account and try to reach a compromise. Assume that the other person is acting in good faith unless you have clear evidence to the contrary.
  • Any good-faith effort to improve the encyclopedia, even if misguided or ill-considered, is not vandalism.
  • The neutral point of view is a difficult policy for many of us to understand, and even Wikipedia veterans occasionally accidentally introduce material which is non-ideal from an NPOV perspective. Indeed, we are all blinded by our beliefs to a greater or lesser extent. While regrettable, this is not vandalism.
  • Well, it's one thing to take an interest in an article that you maintain on your watchlist. Maybe you really are an expert or you just care about the topic a lot. But when this watchfulness crosses a certain line, then you're overdoing it.
  • If you find yourself warring with other contributors over deletions, reversions and so on, why not take some time off from the editing process? Taking yourself out of the equation can cool things off considerably. Take a fresh look a week or two later. (See Staying cool when the editing gets hot.)

Assume good faith...but not to the point of stupidity. You've been told, you've been warned, this isn't the only article you've been warned about vandalizing, so learn your lesson Sherurcij (talk) (Terrorist Wikiproject) 14:06, 4 February 2006 (UTC)Reply
..well actually I have never had problems with anyone before - just you. I do have a problem with your lack of civility, and whilst I understand you may feel some sense of misguided ownership of this stub, Wiki rules clearly state no one can claim this. So - open your mind, take a few deep breaths and reeelaaaaax. I am now researching some more to come back later with new contributions....see you soon. By the way you are not a sysop or admin ...so please stop trying to act like one. mbp
The reason I'm not a SysOp or Admin is because I don't put up with people pulling shit on articles, and after a single polite warning, I don't bother benig eternally nice to you. Sherurcij (talk) (Terrorist Wikiproject) 02:22, 5 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

As a neutral observer of the Edit War above how about a compromise where there is a heading like "current whereabouts" (or something like this) which discusses the most recent evidence and controversy over suspected Israeli revenge killings - due to the renewed interest resulting from Steven Spielberg's latest movie on the subject.Maroubrakid 03:49, 5 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

If you have information on his current whereabouts, go for it. If you're going to violate everything that is sacred about WP:NOR, then no. Sherurcij (talk) (Terrorist Wikiproject) 04:46, 5 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

Thankyou Maroubrakid for your comments and attempt to take the heat out of this. I imagine if anyone had 'original research' on the topic of Mr Al-Gashey's whereabouts they would have claimed a reward by now. There seems to be quite a bit around about his suspected whereabouts though so I will see what I can come up with in the next few months.ie: Africa, Syria. mbp

Suggested Merge from "Jamil" Al.... edit

I have requested the page Jamil Al Gashey be moved here. see Talk:Jamil Al Gashey to vote please.Maroubrakid 10:57, 6 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

The suggested merge notice has been up for some time now. How do we go about completing the merge and taking down the other article? Would do it myself but don't want to break any rules. Maroubrakid 11:59, 2 March 2006 (UTC)Reply
If there isn't any new information, you can just make that article a redirect. Otherwise, you can copy and paste relevant information from there onto this article. After that's done, you should make Jamil Al Gashey a redirect. I can help with the redirect part if you don't know about it. Gflores Talk 22:48, 27 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

Spelling of Last Name edit

Klein spells the subject's last name as 'Al-Jishey' (ie. with an ish instead of an ash) throughout his recent book "striking back". Perhaps this is just a translation issue between Arabic and English. Anyone know which is correct?Maroubrakid 23:51, 12 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

Kidnapper v Terrorist v Hostage Taker edit

I have changed the recent edit from kidnapper to Palestinian terrorist to bring it in line with the Munich Massacre and 1972 Summer Olympics articles. Both of these pages (particularly the Munich Massacre talk page) have had significant debate over this question. Can live with either hostage taker or terrorist.Maroubrakid 06:09, 17 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

I'm personally a fan of hostagetaker, bank robbers aren't just called "criminals", they're "bank robbers". People who take hostages should be hostagetakers. Sherurcij (talk) (Terrorist Wikiproject) 07:26, 17 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

Yeah, np with your latest edit back to hostagetaker. It was "terrorist" before which I don't like to see, just because of the potential for bias, easier to just say "No, we'll call everybody by what their actions were, and let the reader judge intention" as a blanket rule. But kidnapper is definitely wrong, I agree with you. Sherurcij (talk) (Terrorist Wikiproject) 08:49, 9 March 2006 (UTC)Reply
Thanks. Agree with your thoughts re actions. Maroubrakid 12:01, 9 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

"Israelim [sic]" edit

I'm taking out the "[sic]" as this is not a mistake; that's how you pluralize masculine nouns in Hebrew.

Picture edit

Isn't that a picture of Jamal Naji , not Jamal Al-Gashey? HawkoChoco (talk) 09:13, 7 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

Nephew or cousin of Adnan Al-Gashey? edit

In this article, Adnan Al-Gashey is referred to as Jamal's cousin, while on his own page, Adnan Al-Gashey is said to be Jamal's uncle. Is there a good source that can clarify this discrepancy? Revirvlkodlaku (talk) 03:39, 13 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

Infobox edit

Hello Davidgoodheart, I'd like to call your attention to the fact that you are edit warring with me on this page. You seem to be an experienced editor, so you probably know that the protocol on WP is bold–revert–discuss. I explained in my revert why I didn't think the article needed an infobox. I even presented a link to WP:Disinfoboxes. Despite this, you are asking me what infobox should be used instead. According to my reasoning, none should be used, as none is required. Please read the link I've posted, and do not engage in unprofessional behaviour. Revirvlkodlaku (talk) 14:54, 2 February 2022 (UTC)Reply
