Notability

edit

The eleven sources provided on the article, by "Joseph Anthony Movshon", also listed as J. A. Movshon, are self-published and do not provide notability per Wikipedia:Notability (academics) or any other notability policy or guideline. The article could be subject to a deletion process, WP:PROD, WP:SOFTDELETE, or WP:AFD, especially if seen to be just a promotion for the institution or just a general listing of academics at the institution. The article could do with improvement, including the sourcing, but the subject is very clearly notable per WP:PROF#C3, and most probably other criteria, so I would not recommend starting an AfD discussion as you would find youself in a very small minority. And don't even think about WP:PROD, as I am already contesting deletion now. Phil Bridger (talk) 10:08, 27 January 2019 (UTC)Reply
Greetings, my intention is to call attention to BLP's of "professors" that lack sourcing or that is mainly or all self-sourced. Especially when sources like this are either formatted wrong or otherwise appear to be a dead link. Many articles on professors are questionable as per actual notability. If I raise issues and get sensible replies it is either a no-brainer or there is something valid. As one of the 13,500 members of the American Academy of Arts & Sciences but more especially one of the more highly prestigious 2,380 members (and nearly 485 foreign associates) of the National Academy of Sciences created by Abraham Lincoln, there is certainly notability. I missed that when looking down the long list of self-sources. Thanks for your reply, Otr500 (talk) 11:04, 27 January 2019 (UTC)Reply
