There are a number of errors in this article and it appears that an earlier article that was more comprehensive has been deleted from Wikipedia. 1. Iu-mien surnames or clan names do not traditionally have the prefix Sae. This was a Thai camp addition meaning clan. So Saechao is actually clan Chao. All Iu-Mien family names can be correctly written using the chinese character for the same chinese name. 2. The author of this article uses The International Iu-Mien Standardized Language to correct Clan names that are phonetically spelled in English. However, the author does not cite this, and it should have been noted that this was developed in 1984 during a multinational Iu-Mien conference in the People's Republic of China. In the US, this written language is used primarily in Iu-Mien Christian Churches. 3.Iu-Mien (Iu-Mienh) were not traditionally Taoist/Buddist. Their traditional form of religion is a blend of Taoist and Animist beliefs. 4. The Iu-Mien were trained by the CIA, and fought the Viet Cong for the US. Iu-Mienh and other mountain tribes successfully shut down the Ho Chi Minh Trail, the main supply line from North Vietnam in South Vietnam, and thus force the Viet Cong to bring supplies in through Cambodia. This was the impetus for President Nixon ordering the bombing of Camodia, a supposedly neutral country during the Vietnam War. In 2013, these tribal soldiers were recognized by Congress and given veteran burial and other benefits. I know this because I worked as a social worker, grant writer, and community advocate for the Iu-mien community in Portland for over 20 years. Also, I attended the language conference in the Peoples Republic.— Preceding unsigned comment added by 184.100.250.102 (talkcontribs) 03:52, 19 January 2015
