The Spanish article says he was modern. The Catalan article says he was even postmodern. These statements are strange enough to require explanation, which I can't provide. He is most often referred to as post-impressionist on other websites. Maybe they shouldn't be mentioned in the English article. He began his career experimenting with some sort of impressionism, and then went beyond.

The Spanish and Catalan articles seem to claim him as their own. It seems most fair to call him both Spanish and Catalan. There is nothing wrong with fighting over him. His art certainly deserves it. They just shouldn't deny him the other identity.
