The Maine Turnpike is part of the I-95 Interstate System, but it is apart from it as well. I say keep it separate. That's Just It 06:06, 17 April 2006 (UTC)

I used to work for the Maine Turnpike. It is not State owned like that of I-295 / I-95. Therefore, showing respect it should be considered its own entity. Using Mass. shields on the Maine routes?

I noticed that shields for Massachusetts state routes are getting added to the exit box for interchanges with Maine routes. Are the two shield designs close enough that it's a fair substitution? It seems like the borders may be slightly different. —C.Fred (talk) 04:08, 7 January 2007 (UTC)

I agree it's a stupid thing to do, but I didn't see any shields that were specifically for Maine, and the first shield I found for a Maine State Highway was from Massachusetts. DanTD 18:01, 7 January 2007 (UTC)

Exit 57 county

I saw an editor changed the county for Exit 57, so I pulled up Google Earth to verify. It shows the highway midline and northbound exit ramp in Aroostook County, while the southbound entrance ramp starts in Penobscot. —C.Fred (talk) 00:30, 5 November 2007 (UTC)

Merge of the Maine Turnpike

I think this entire article should be merged into Interstate 95 (Maine). The exit list is obviously the same up to exit 109... with the exception of the tolls, which likely shouldn't be there anyhow WP:NOPRICES. Old exit numbers

I notice that the old, sequential exit numbers were removed from the exit list a while back.

However, a significant number of other articles on Interstate Highways in states that have changed, or are changing, from sequential to mile-based exit numbers (e.g. Florida, Virginia, Pennsylvania, Connecticut) retain a column in their exit lists for the old numbers, in dark gray.

While I'm not entirely sure whether or not the old numbers should be restored to this article, I do think this is an area where consistency could be improved. Bluebird207 (talk) 16:22, 18 May 2016 (UTC)

Toll Road

Isn't the entire Turnpike technically a toll road, even though the section between the New Gloucester and West Gardiner barriers has no tolls at its exits? 331dot (talk) 02:32, 7 May 2017 (UTC)

More history info possible?

The history section does not say much about the progress of completing the route. My 1972 Rand McNally Atlas shows that, from Bangor to Houlton, the road is two-lanes, even though it is symbolized by the usual symbol for a freeway - three black lines with green colouring. I wonder when it was upgraded to four lanes, and was this "two lanes" one in each direction separated by a median, or was it a single roadway with on-ramps, off-ramps and interchanges?

I know that parts of the 401 in Ontario, when opened in the early 1960s, had only one of the two roadways open for a few months before the second roadway was opened. GBC (talk) 15:51, 5 January 2020 (UTC)
