This article is quite bloated. In particular, the history of distance skating and marathons needs to be corrected. The New York City Skate Marathon (aka 100km) started in the very early 1990s for example. If RBS is who I think he is, he's well aware of this.


I think 24 hours relay races should be mentionned too. The most popular (400 teams participating - about 4000 skaters) is the famous "24 heures du Mans roller" (France) [[1]] which takes place on Le Mans car racing circuit. Also, "24 heures de Goumoens la Ville" (Switzerland) [[2]].
