The information for this article comes primarily from Groves, from Cobbetts Cyclopedic Survey of Chamber Music, from Paul Griffith's History of the String Quartet (cited in the article). I didn't know if it was appropriate to cite Cobbetts and Groves in the Resources. I will let some more senior Wikipedian decide that.

Hi Ravpapa. You are as senior as anyone here. Usually we say "Sources" rather than "Resources" and yes, if they are the sources that you took the information from you should list them. Portrait of Schuppanzigh

An anonymous editor has removed the portrait of Schuppanzigh by Josef Danhauser, based on an auction note from Belvedere that identifies the subject only as "a man" - see http://digital.belvedere.at/objects/3345/portrat-eines-mannes?ctx=a3d4a356-7fe6-4b2a-a8b6-b7eb5cf852ee&idx=20

To me, this is not a convincing reference showing that the portrait is not of Schuppanzigh. Other sources - for example, http://www.universal-prints.de/english/fine-art/artist/image/josef-danhauser/6954/1/111587/ignaz-schuppanzigh---danhauser/index.htm . On the other hand, those sources aren't particularly convincing either.

On second look - I take it all back. It is not an auction house, but a museum where the painting is housed, and the entry says clearly that it is misidentified as Schuppanzigh. So the anon is right. I will look for another portrait. Ravpapa (talk) 16:41, 26 September 2017 (UTC)

Thank you for your edit, but I reverted it. You added that Schuppanzigh had many violin students. How do you know this? As far as I know, he had very few students. Mayseder was one. Who were the others? He was known as a performer not as a teacher.
