contradiction

Yes, it's undeniably correct that Ian was born (on this very day, hooray!) in 1948. But it is really true that he started professionally some five (or so) years before he turned 15 in 1963? From my recollection, most people in the UK in that era learned to read and write by age 7 or earlier (assuming they didn't have learning difficulties), which for Ian Paice would have been in 1955 or earlier. If his father (or an associate) taught him as a child he may well have played in some gigs on the band's kit while a schoolboy, before being given his own personal one. However, it would seem worth looking into since it doesn't have a citation.
