They do also air Anime

edit

Shouldn't it be noted that IFC airs anime? J'onn J'onzz 13:51, 15 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

yea, IFC does air anime on Fridays (as of Febuary 2007) with their "GET DRAWN IN" block. give the imported animation some props man.

Japanimaton is now aired as filler as part of Automat, and that's only if the traffic manager decides to air it at all. Japanimation on IFC is now a rarity. Also, I wouldn't give any "props" to Japanimation anymore, as the sales in both Japan and America are way, way, way down in the gutter. Japanimation and Japanese comics are dying out as a trend in America. Want proof? Go to any major bookstore chain and recall that in 2004, Japanese comics had a whole wall to themselves in the building and now is shrunk to two or three mid-height shelves near the teen sections. Want more proof? Suncoast and Tower Records banked most of their stores on Japanimation videos, and when those stopped selling suddenly in 2004, their stores started to go under heavily. Want more proof? Why has every single America Japanimation house has either been bought by new owners (Viz, Tokyopop, Funimation) or has just died altogether (Pioneer, Central Park, AnimEigo)? Goodbye, AMC; Goodbye, IFC; Goodbye, WEtv

edit

AT&T U-verse is about to say goodbye to AMC, Independent Film Channel and WE tv in less than two days unless it makes a deal with Rainbow Media...which is not going to be very easy!! AdamDeanHall (talk) 13:17, 13 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

AT&T U-verse still carries AMC, Independent Film Channel and WE tv, despite the ongoing dispute between AT&T and Rainbow Media.

Commercials

edit

Today, Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2010, at 1 AM, I was watching Cox Cable Las Vegas's IFC channel. Lo and behold, during Pulp Fiction (I was watching muted, so I don't know about dialogue), after the Jack Rabbit Slim's Twist Contest, IFC aired commercials for quite a few minutes.

So, does anybody know, and like with the AMC article (last time I read it, anyways), does it need to be noted this change in programming. I pay a price for the extra digital channels to get IFC, Sundance, and Encore, and now their airing commercials? I want me money back, argh! (Say it like a pirate. Besides, I pay $1.47 for the package, so what am I after? A dime?) Apple8800 (talk) 09:08, 7 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

Well that's just it, isn't worth arguing over just drop the package or not, up to you. I don't know if it was you or someone else who added the sentence in the history section which said something to the effect of ' ifc is now airing commercials during it's movie much to the disappointment of it's viewers and against it's goals which will inevitably lead to a decline in its viewer ship' but I deleted that because it was un-cited and completely unfounded, despite me agreeing with it. I'm sorry if this is the wrong place to put this but I didn't know where else to explain it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Justinforasec (talkcontribs) 05:40, 12 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

You know, if you wanted to "check" if I "edited" this article with the line, all you have to do it click on my contributions under my username. Also, no, there aren't any "Wikipedia souces", but plenty of blogs and user forums if you just type into Google, "IFC commercials suck". And yes, it does suck, because IFC is still packaged on many systems as a premium channel, though the two systems I've had over my lifetime, Cox Las Vegas and CMA Pahrump, have packaged IFC as Basic Digital (you know, those 9th tier channels that nobody watches). Censorship

edit

Is there a reliable source, on whether or not IFC censors now? MNrykein (talk) 20:03, 9 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

Damn right they censor... watched Whitest Kids You Know tonite and they bleeped "fuck" and "cock" but left "shit" in. So apparently they are censoring.
They didn't however edit Mr. Show, which had all sorts of cursing in it. Possibly depends on who the advertisers are for any particular show. 69.253.39.117 (talk) 03:54, 16 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

Inappropriate language

edit

I am watching this channel and all of a sudden heard the word F**k, G*d d**m being used. I quickly turned the station because I didn't think that it was legal to broadcast such Filth on public networks. It is inappropriate and there should be a warning that this is not going to be edited out so you can make the decision to not have you exposed or your family exposed to such Filth! 2601:4C1:8201:BBB0:3DA8:20E:A21A:AEC9 (talk) 22:18, 30 January 2022 (UTC)Reply
