Advice

Just wondering if the story that was in the media about one of the "Nancys", Francesca Jackson is relevant to this article or not? The story about her and Denise Van Outen being friends? Is it relevant? On the Any Dream Will Do (TV series) article there is a Criticism section. It has been in the national press and there are plenty of reliable sources online that can be used, but I wasn't sure whether or not to add anything on here so any advice would be welcome. I'd say yes. I've not seen any of the stories in the press, but certainly if they did appear in the major newspapers, it's worth adding a note (just a sentence with a reference) to the article. I must say it's something I noticed during the show, but as they were quite upfront about it I don't see any problem... worth a mention, though. - Dafyd (talk) 22:51, 24 March 2008 (UTC)

Thank you for the reply. I agree that it is something that shouldn't be a problem or an issue. With it being in the public domain, then as you say, a short sentence should suffice. However, that then begs the question of in which section to put it? There is a link to a story in the Daily Mirror, which I suppose is good enough to use as a source. I've added it now in the section about last Saturdays show as it was in the week leading up to that and I suppose it is most relevant there.♦Tangerines♦·Talk 22:59, 24 March 2008 (UTC)

Tables and Infobox

After discussing this with Dafyd I have added some tables that can be used each week for the songs and missions. There is the concern that by doing this the article might become too "table heavy". However, we can at least try it and see if it works or not. I did also create a table for the Sing-Off but decided it didn't work so left it out. This is the table -

Controversy

Should a section be added about all the complaints the BBC received over the last 7 days for the only 2 black Nancy contestants being dropped into the sing-off together last week. This caused Lloyd Webber to make a quick statement in the show last night to announce that the judges are looking for talent not from where the Nancys come from. —— Ryan ^(t)•(c) 08:41, 13 April 2008 (UTC)

Saturday and Sunday count as 1 episode

Why is this so? Each episode are separate productions that constitute a whole serial. So rather than there being 7 episodes, there should really be 14. —— Ryan ^(t)•(c) 10:35, 5 May 2008 (UTC)

Table bloat

As raised as a possible concern above, I think that there are too many tables making the information harder to read in the week sections. I propose that the information is formatted like so (taking week one as an example):

• Group performances:
  • Nancys and Olivers: "I'd Do Anything" from Oliver!
  • Olivers: "Food Glorious Food" from Oliver!
  • Nancys: "Sound of the Underground" by Girls Aloud
  • Gwion and the Olivers: "Bright Eyes" by Art Garfunkel
• Individual performances (in order of performance):
  • Jessie: "River Deep - Mountain High" by Ike & Tina Turner and so on
  • Jodie: "Chasing Pavements"
  • Tara: "Suddenly I See"
  • Ashley: "Black Velvet"
  • Amy: "Respect"
  • Keisha: "Mad About the Boy"
  • Francesca: "Hero"
  • Rachel: "About You Now"
  • Samantha: "I Love Rock 'n' Roll"
  • Sarah: "Get Here"
  • Cleo: "Who Knew"
  • Niamh: "The First Cut Is the Deepest"
• Missions:
  • Nancys: Working in an East End market
  • Olivers: Learning magic tricks with Paul Kieve
• Sing-off:
  • Amy and Francesca were in the sing-off, with Amy having received the lowest number of viewers votes. They sang "Tell Me on a Sunday" (from the musical of the same name).
  • Andrew Lloyd Webber chose to save Francesca and eliminate Amy.

I think this more compact layout is much cleaner and is much more presentable. Let me know any thoughts, and I'll make the changes as necessary. Good job on the info on the page, I think, in time, good things could be achieved. mattbr 21:22, 11 May 2008 (UTC)

I created the tables and added them to the article. But I also did so on the understanding that they could in the end get too much which is why I said above that it might get too "table heavy". I must admit I am unsure. I quite like them, but I'm probably just used to them so not the best person to comment really! So if to general readers the format without tables is easier to read then maybe it is best as you said to change them. There is also the addition each week in the tables of the two Nancy's who are in the sing-off, could that be incorporated into the format above at all or not? I don't though think that the extra info is needed, such as "from Oliver" after Food, Glorious Food or "by Art Garfunkel" etc. Thanks.♦Tangerines♦·Talk 22:12, 11 May 2008 (UTC)

Much better. I adjusted your changes to bullet the groupings as above as I believe this follows on better from "The show performances and missions were:". I also removed the use of a semicolon for bolding as a semicolon is part of the definition list syntax (see Help:List) and these are not definition lists. mattbr 21:14, 16 May 2008 (UTC)

Confusing/too long

Really? I know the weekly format is going to need some revising (as discussed above) - and can, in fact, be completely abandoned for a different structure once the series finishes (see Any Dream Will Do (TV series))... but I don't think it's too long or particularly confusing. RyanLupin, what do you find confusing? I'd almost be inclined to go the other way and suggest that things are explained too fully in the article, rather than remaining unclear. -- Dafyd (talk) 15:45, 13 May 2008 (UTC)

The article doesn't appear confusing to you or the other editors of this article because we all watch the show but for page crawlers who are researching this kind of media will be addlepated by the complexity of the article. As the show progresses, the article will become more and more longer; this can't be helped. Sorry Ryan but I disagree. The article has been written (by various editors) and continues to be written with the general reader in mind and not those who watch the show. You are assuming that general readers will be confused (or addlepated if you prefer). As the show progresses the content will change, but it won't actually be getting that much longer. Next weekend is the Quarter Final stage, meaning there are only three weekends of shows left and each week there have been one less Nancy involved, so it will only lengthen slightly in reality. (pun intended..) And once the show finishes the content will be revised as it was with Any Dream Will Do. Yesterday you said you found the content sometimes "difficult to decipher what is going on" with the tables. The tables have now been removed and it has been replaced with the exact format that was proposed yesterday and with which you agreed.♦Tangerines♦·Talk 16:03, 13 May 2008 (UTC)
