Talk:Hyundai Genesis

Why does this mention four wheel drive? Isn't this purely a RWD car? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.125.157.128 (talk) 01:39, 22 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

Very nice Logo and name.

I think its time for Hyundai-KIA to comebine and change simple logo and name. Hyundai company in USA should change to new name and logo to " Genesis".

Present Hyundai logo looks too similiar to Honda. H symbol. Present KIA logo has bad taboo meaning " Killed In Action" military slang.

Korean car company needs new logo and new name: Genesis and wing symbol is very cool and catchy for Western car lovers. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Korea4one (talkcontribs) 07:27, 31 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Genesis is not successor of Equus. Successor of Equus will be launched on late 2008. Genesis is new model.--125.250.244.3 (talk) 07:47, 10 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hi everyone, my name is Colin and I recently started up a web forum for the Hyundai Genesis (both sedan and coupe as a matter of fact). I had posted my link on this wikipage, but now see that maybe I didn't do things correctly! As instructed I am posting up here to talk about it. This is not currently a commercial venture for me, and I'm paying for the site out of pocket (I host a few different sites so i don't notice the small amount of bandwidth). I've been a fan of Hyundai's new stuff over the last few years, they sem to be making a splash in the industry, which I think is great. I've been a part of auto-forum communities for many years now and this is my first attempt at my own forum, so I hope the community grows quickly :)

The URL is: http://www.***********.com if you want to take a look and let me know what you think!

Thanks Colin and hello. Read up on the subject of external links and you'll discover that Wikipedia discourages external links. There is a list at Wikipedia:external links of types of external links that are particularly discouraged, and that includes discussion forums.

Though your site isn't currently commercial, the natural evolution of discussion forums can easily take them to a stage where they are supported by aftermarket and other commercial vendors... and Wikipedia isn't here to serve and promote commercial ventures.

Also, the Wikipedia discussion page isn't for announcements and discussions about the car, but rather for discussions about the article... hence the editing of your web link above. 842U (talk) 10:57, 9 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

To avoid running afoul of WP:COI I should note that Hyundai is a client of my employer; see my user page for a fuller explanation of my editing practices.

I have made a number of edits, all of which are backed up with sources I believe to be reliable (Edmunds Inside Line, Autoblog.com) and which are already used on this article and others. My specific edits are here, here, here, here, here and here. I have also moved some details about the specifications on one version of the engine to the main article about the Hyundai Tau engine.

I may have a few more edits to the page over the coming week or so, and I'll follow them up here as well. If anyone takes issue with an edit or has another question, feel free to let me know. NMS Bill (talk) 22:03, 12 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

You may want to review the decision to use blogs as a source because they are usually not allowed. Check out WP:SPS. ww2censor (talk) 02:07, 15 September 2008 (UTC)Reply
Worthwhile question; I've followed up on your talk page. NMS Bill (talk) 17:35, 15 September 2008 (UTC)Reply
I like to keep discussiosn together but well defended on my talk page. I did not know if you were aware, but you are, so that's good. Cheers ww2censor (talk) 17:38, 15 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

I took some pointless fluff written into this article. things like "advanced" "ultra premium" etc. The awards section needs help, as a lot of those are obscure awards someone who is obsessed with this car clearly dug up. but anyway, it still needs work. Premium gas DOES NOT improve performance.

edit

Higher octane fuels DO NOT carry significantly more potential energy than regular 87 octane gasoline. Higher octane fuels are just harder to ignite, allowing higher compression ratios to be run inside the combustion chamber without fear of pre-ignition (AKA Knocking or Detonation). High class sports and performance cars don't need high octane fuel to produce more power, they only need it to maintain stability in the combustion chamber since most have high compression ratios that cause the fuel to burn before ignition takes place, potentially damaging the engine internals. If the Genesis can run on 87 octane fuel without hot spots in the combustion chamber igniting the fuel before the spark does, then putting in anything else is a waste of money, since it doesn't improve performance. This is a proven fact. If someone wants to go so far as to use race fuel as an example, I'd like to see them put some in a Genesis (Or any street car for that matter) and see if it runs. If it does, it won't for long. We're talking street cars here, not race motors. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.184.250.60 (talk) 23:15, 4 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

Rename article as Gensis G80

edit

Since effective with the 2017 model year, the car will be known as Genesis G80, the title of this page should be changed. Since it is the same lineage (and indeed same car as 2016 model year) having 2 articles makes little sense. 50.204.241.84 (talk) 01:30, 3 August 2016 (UTC)Reply

WP:Common name would suggest the page should remain as "Hyundai Genesis" for the short-term. Both generations of Genesis have been badged "Hyundai Genesis"; only one iteration will be graced with the "Genesis G80" moniker. Maybe with the release of a third generation, either a new article or a simple page move would be appropriate. OSX (talkcontributions) 08:43, 5 August 2016 (UTC)Reply
