OK, I screwəd up and lost the internal wiki links. I'll get it back up. Sorry folks...

This page was zapped by two idiots called Mar Mar and Caley. I've added some information I found on other sources and will try to fix the article at a later date if nobody else does.

Cord body dies edit

After the demise of the Cord Corporation in 1937, Norman De Vaux was able to buy the 810/812 body dies (for $40,000, iirc). He tried to push a car of his own, again (he already did before with the short-lived De Vaux in 1932). When this failed he sold the dies to Hupp (and the premises in Oakland were he planned production of his De-Vo to GM). So, the dies came not buy straight away from Cord. Further, there were many problems with them: They had been stored for a time in the open, they were heavily used (which resulted in extensive fixing for many panels) and Hupmobile had to create a one-piece die for the sedan roof (which at Cord was welded together from several panels). All this delayed the Hupp Skylark, and it cost money. --Chief tin cloud (talk) 11:51, 9 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

Apparently, the dies weren't much good for mass-production in any case (tho, yet again, I don't recall where I came across that little tidbit :( ). TREKphiler any time you're ready, Uhura 00:46, 10 February 2011 (UTC)Reply
