Pepin or Pippin
editI just noticed that @Srnec reverted my changes without any stated cause, I assume that there's some disagreement on their part when it comes to the spelling of the name of French king Pepin the Short (Pépin le Bref). The article says "Pippin" which I changed to "Pepin" as it is the name used on the main page, a change I felt was correct.
Seeing, however, that it was reverted, I think this topic might be worth bringing up. Should the spelling used on the main article be used or not? I think it is more correct to spell it "Pepin" as it is also closer to his actual name in French, but again, this seems to need some kind of arbitration. - I believe both Pepin and Pippin are correct in English. They are both admissible variants in English. Therefore, they should not generally be changed except to enforce consistency within an article. He was not French in any case. Srnec (talk) 00:04, 27 August 2023 (UTC)
