Possible changed to presenting dollar amounts and programs

edit

Thus far this page has been updated to show a mix of 2009, 2010 and 2013 dollar amounts of the programs discussed.

It might make more sense to break out each program in detail, and specify the amounts spent on the program in each FY below. Something like this:

Urban Areas Security Initiative (UASI)

edit

The Urban Areas Security Initiative program allocates funds to enhance regional preparedness in major metropolitan areas throughout the United States.[1] The UASI program directly supports expanding regional collaboration and is meant to assist participants in their creation of regional systems for prevention, protection, response, and recovery.[1] Again, in correspondence with the 9/11 Act, states are required to ensure that at least 25 percent of appropriated funding is dedicated to terrorism prevention planning, organization, training, exercise, and equipment.[1] State Administrative Agencies (Department of Public Safety, State Office of Homeland Security, Emergency Management Agency, etc.) are the only groups eligible to apply directly to FEMA for UASI grants.[2]

  • In 2013 the UASI program was allocated $500.4 million[3]
  • In 2012 the UASI program was allocated $xxx.x million
  • etc
  • etc

That would allow for easier edits int he future and make it easier to readers to see trends in funding over time compared with program objectives.

If there's no objections, I may start on this this evening to streamline this page a bit not that the CR has passed.
