Notes about dab creation edit

I created this dab after noticing a number of NRHP places with Holland House in their name, and one in Wyoming named exactly "Holland House". For the record, before creating this "Holland House" dab, the name was used for what is now Holland House, London. So, I assumed there was an NRHP list-article in Wyoming showing a link to the mansion in London, England. (Actually, going back and checking, i find that the Johnson County, Wyoming NRHP list-article, since at least January 2009, had avoided that, by using a pipelink to "Holland House (Buffalo, Wyoming)" already.) Now, with the dab in place, there is included in the dab a red-link for the Wyoming one, Holland House (Buffalo, Wyoming). And there is a list of other NRHP places which may be referred to as "Holland House", but which each have a slightly different name. It is my belief that arraying these is helpful to readers who are likely to be looking for one historic house in their area in particular, and who will be well served by finding the full proper name for theirs, and to see whether or not there currently exists an article for it. Currently there are primary bluelinks for 4 United States ones (one in Florida because Ebyabe created stub articles for all FL a long time ago, one in Massachusetts because that state is also almost all stubbed, and two in Maine). By arraying them together, sorted by state then city, you get to notice relationships, such as the two in Lewiston, Maine. It seems likely that the Holland of Holland-Drew House, Lewiston, ME, has some relationship to the Captain of Captain Holland House, Lewiston, ME. The other 15 U.S. ones are primary redlinks, each supported by a supporting bluelink that points towards a NRHP list-article that should show the same redlink in a context establishing the notability of the item.

Upon creating the dab, one development was that an editor moved the London one from name "Holland House, London, England" to "Holland House, London", and revised the dab accordingly. I think this indicates some acceptance that the London one is not clearly the primary usage of the term, or at least no intention on the part of that editor to quibble with the existence of the dab at the "Holland House" name. What currently links to the dab is a set of about 35 mainspace articles, most or all referring to the Holland House, London article. So it is incumbent on me now to go and revise those articles so their links avoid the dab page, and I am proceeding with that. --doncram (talk) 16:03, 24 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

Update: Completed that. The Jacobean architecture Holland House, London is a class 1 Listed Building, and has a whole lot of interesting history, including it being bombed in 1942; it would be arguable to give it wp:PRIMARYUSAGE of the name and move this dab to "Holland House (disambiguation)", although I still think it is somewhat better to leave all as set now. There's one incoming link from mainspace remaining that refers to a New York City "Holland House", perhaps a hotel(?), which i am just leaving as linking to the dab. --doncram (talk) 16:57, 24 February 2010 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for your work on this. The Jacobean house is an article is an easy winner for primary usage, so I've made page moves and edits accordingly. — Scott talk 20:38, 31 August 2013 (UTC)Reply
