This is not supposed to be an article about current Thai politics. If the section of Thaksin's business dealings etc etc continues to grow, I will delete it. Adam 08:16, 17 February 2006 (UTC)

Is there a page that discusses current politics? It might be helpful to provide a link inside the article pointing to that page.

Political Crisis of 2008 - 2009

The informations about the political situation have not been updated since many month. The article do not mention the resolution of 2008 crisis and the "red-shirt" demonstrations of april 2009. Is someone working on that? Fargi79 (talk) 09:21, 17 July 2009 (UTC)

History of Thailand 1973–2008

This article implies Thailand closed for renovation following the events of October 5, 2008. Suggest that, rather than bring it up to date, move events from before the turn of the century to History of Thailand 1973–2000, move the remainder to a new History of Thailand since 2001, and update the new one with hysterical events of the past 4 years. --Pawyilee (talk) 14:43, 1 March 2012 (UTC)

Which one retired voluntarily - Kraivichien or Kriangsak?

In section 3.1 (Coups and elections - The Prem era), it opens with this:

In 1980, Kraivichien voluntarily retired, (etc.)

Should that be:

In 1980, Kriangsak voluntarily retired, (etc.)

In a preceding section, it states:

In October 1977 a different section of the army staged another "coup" and replaced Thanin [Kraivichien] with General Kriangsak Chomanand.

I have no idea; I'm only going on what's in the article already so I'm throwing it to someone else who knows what they're talking about.

History of Thailand 1973-2014

Since Thailand had a New King and planning to make a New constitution/Government. I think it is best to make a New Article of the time Period of that and disclosed this period until 2014 or 2016? -HeneralVicente23 (talk) 05:47, 29 July 2017 (UTC)

Sounds reasonable. Once a History of Thailand since 2014 (or 2016) article exists and has some content, I support re-naming this one. I don't know whether the 2014 coup or the 2016 royal succession is the appropriate break-point, though. Power~enwiki (talk) 05:51, 29 July 2017 (UTC)

The most pivotal moment, IMO, would be the rise of Thaksin in 2001, since it's him who has so much polarised Thai politics since. Infobox continuity

Can the link for it replace it for the current Thailand link in the successor state box? Since there's a Thailand link already below it, I decided to change it, but it could be helpful to have an infobox for that article, similar to the French Fifth Republic article. Sorry, I'd forgotten to follow up on my earlier response to your question at the other talk page. As mentioned, I don't think the use of {{Infobox country}} here is appropriate, so I've removed it. The History of Thailand sidebar (which I had previously suggested deprecating) could work here, though it needs some adjustments.
