Sources for article edit

The article is a summary of this Wiki site, the named sources on that site and some own research. If (german) sources are allowed I will put a best-of into the article page. (The OOU sources are in german language.) Beside of that a redirect to "Henry rifle" is simply wrong. How could we solve it? --Tamarin (talk) 18:18, 22 May 2019 (UTC)Reply

What German sources are available? A personal site like the "karl-may" site won't work; we'd need something like reputable newspapers, scholarly literary analysis, or the like. Personal or fan websites are not reliable sources as they are not fact-checked or editorially controlled. If you know of a better redirect target, we can certainly use that instead, but reliable, independent, out-of-universe sources are unequivocally required for articles about fictional elements. It is fine if they're not in English so long as they meet reliability standards. Seraphimblade Talk to me 18:29, 22 May 2019 (UTC)Reply
Tamarin, German sources are fine. Karl May has been called the best selling German author of all time. Here are some sources in English, first for the rifle
  • https://centerofthewest.org/2018/06/29/karl-may-henry-carbine-myth/ - project at museum, withlinks to https://wyld.ent.sirsi.net/client/en_US/bbhc/search/results?qu=karl+may&te=&lm=BBHN - museum library holdings on May including Silberbüchse, Bärentöter, Henrystutzen : die berühmtesten Gewehre des Wilden Westens
  • Christopher Frayling (2006). "Karl May and the Noble Savage". Spaghetti Westerns: Cowboys and Europeans from Karl May to Sergio Leone. I.B.Tauris. p. 110. ISBN 978-1-84511-207-3. {{cite book}}: External link in |chapterurl= (help); Unknown parameter |chapterurl= ignored (|chapter-url= suggested) (help)
And for May in general
Hope this helps. StarryGrandma (talk) 18:50, 22 May 2019 (UTC)Reply
Sources on Karl May himself are not helpful. He's notable and has an article, but what we need are reliable independent sources about the fictional weapon. Wikis are user-generated and thus are not considered reliable sources. The center of the West ref is a blog, and thus is not considered a reliable source. The Frayling book (pg 106) is just a passing mention of a replica of the gun in a May museum. That's not sufficient to show notability. We really need solid sources to show notability for a fictional weapon. They may exist, but so far we have not seen them. Meters (talk) 03:54, 25 May 2019 (UTC)Reply
