Blatant plagiarism by the English tabloid, The Daily Star.

edit

I’ve noticed that The Daily Star published an article about Helene Spilling today, and it’s clear they’ve heavily relied on this Wikipedia article for their content. The problem is that they’ve copied and pasted a significant amount of information almost word for word, especially the interesting facts. While it’s understandable if they used this article as a reference, the blatant plagiarism is unacceptable. They’ve made little effort to rephrase or credit the original source.

The phrasing of key details, such as Helene’s dancing career statistics and her business ventures, mirrors this Wikipedia entry almost exactly. They’ve only made minor adjustments to shorten the text, but the resemblance is unmistakable. As someone who has contributed extensively to this article, it’s frustrating to see such minimal effort put into creating their own content, essentially resulting in a direct copy of the information here.

I’ve dedicated countless hours to refining this article to make it informative and engaging for readers, driven by genuine interest and commitment. It’s disheartening to see tabloids like The Daily Star disregard proper credit and instead present this stolen information as their own. Moreover, their article was poorly executed either way, exploiting both Helene’s pregnancy and Martin Ødegaard’s injury. Sadly, this is all too common with media coverage in this country. Rant over. https://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/football/martin-odegaard-injury-arsenal-wife-33634255

P.S: Here are the actual examples:

Current Wiki article text: "She is best known for her appearances on Skal vi danse, the Norwegian edition of Dancing with the Stars. During her competitive dancing career, she won the Norwegian dance championship 17 times, and represented Norway in European and world tournaments."

The Daily Star's article: "Spilling is best known for appearing as one of the professional dancers on Skal vi Danse, the Norwegian version of Strictly Come Dancing, and even won the competition in 2021. Current Wiki article text: "Spilling is the founder and owner of The Zone Dance Studio in Oslo. In 2021, she was given a temporary lease to run the studio that was used by Skal vi danse contestants in the previous season. The building was later set to be demolished, so a new premises was needed. Spilling decided on an office building located in Torshov and with the assistance of the Skal vi danse production it was converted into a spacious and functional dance studio. It contains six dance halls, a social zone, and office spaces. The Zone has since served as the place for Skal vi danse contestants to train and practice in the 2022 and 2023 seasons. She founded the online dance and sportswear brand DAVAY, which was launched in 2021. Spilling has been a wedding videographer in her spare time since 2023, under the name SpillingMedia. She is a brand ambassador for Thune, one of Norway's leading jewellery brands. This was first announced in May 2024."
