User:Dunutubble please stay calm, till there are more valid informations. I am in Germany and will check all media outlets. It make no sence to specualte at this time about a dead victim - there is no official confirmation of this fact yet. --Bestof2022 (talk) 17:48, 24 January 2022 (UTC)Reply
@Dunutubble and Jim Michael: Unfortunately, it is not me you need to convince as to notability. My caution about notability is not about what you or I believe is the case but that you need to demonstrate that this event will continue to be notable over a sustained period of time in order to achieve a community consensus that the article is notable. The best way to do this is to continue following the story in the news media and identify what is still to happen, both now and in the future, concerning this incident. For example: What lines of inquiry are the police investigating and when are we likely to here about the results, if ever? What other actions are being taken or inquiries are being established by civil authorities? Is there any research being undertaken on this subject? Any memorials or commemorations being planned? Essentially, be prepared to present anything relevant that puts this shooting into a broader context of German and European society. While this is a rare and uncommon event, which tends to help with notability, a good article helps too. - Cameron Dewe (talk) 23:24, 25 January 2022 (UTC)Reply
It appears to have been by a lone, unaffiliated gunman who wasn't motivated by an ideology, so likely reactions to the case will be greater security measures &/or restrictions regarding guns. Jim Michael (talk) 00:28, 26 January 2022 (UTC)Reply
It's a notable event in the history of Heidelberg University, which is notable in itself. The notability is also sustained by the point that mass shootings, especially at schools, are extremely rare in Germany. Dunutubble (talk) 00:31, 27 January 2022 (UTC)Reply

Is this section important enough to be in the article? I think it isn't, because false claims/assumptions are common after attacks, but in most cases we don't include them in our articles. Jim Michael (talk) 15:09, 25 January 2022 (UTC)Reply
Unless authorities took it seriously, it doesn't belong in Investigation. It could go in Reactions, but was it a genuine reaction to the shooting, or an opportunity someone took to deliberately falsely accuse someone? Jim Michael (talk) 16:31, 26 January 2022 (UTC)Reply
Information on guns used unsourced (and also wrong …)

The article states the makes, models and calibers of the guns used by the perpetrator without a source (the source given doesn’t contain any such information as of now). I am not aware of any source at all mentioning the calibers of the guns. The German article gives a source mentioning make and model of both guns,[1] but for the lever action rifle, that information is wrong. Gun industry representatives just guessed it from press photography, but it’s clearly not a Marlin (Marlin lever guns don’t top-eject). It’s probably a Chiappa. While this will certainly be deemed original research, the information currently in the article is nevertheless not only wrong, but also unsourced. 2003:C8:DF23:3B00:7285:C2FF:FE62:7DBE (talk) 17:16, 27 January 2022 (UTC)Reply
