Go re-read the translation - Mihawk NEVER fought with whitebeard.
editWikipedia can be unrealiable sometimes. whoever said mihawk fought with whitebeard because they read a translation that is incorrect. AP translation was wrong, its amended, re-read it. i have edited it.
And re-read the RED/PURPLE/PINK databook. Mihawk can cut element??? Oda said?????? Haha. It makes those people debating whether his sword is seastone embedded look like fools.
- About the elements thing, its a rumour someone started long ago that people think is real info. Someone said it here on wikipedia somewhere, maybe on this debate page. I never noticed the mistake with that statement. Otherwise I would have corrected it, good spot! Angel Emfrbl 07:20, 30 November 2006 (UTC)
Zolo or Zoro
editDo you think we should refer to roronoa as Zolo, or as Zoro? I would prefer Zoro, as it stands up to the original's perfect continuity. also, Zolo is a mistranslation.
Devil Fruit?
edit"he is accused by some characters, as well as some fans, of having the power of a Devil Fruit; however, his abilities are pure skill and power."
Even the characters said it, If I remember correctly it was Kreig who said it. How do you know he's pure skill and power?
- Since it hasn't been confirmed or denied, I changed the wording to "appear to be simply" instead of "are". Shingen 17:10, 17 April 2006 (UTC)
As far as his skills go, in the red databook written by Oda, it is explained that Mihawk is such a skilled swordsmen that he can cut through the elements themselves, such as air, fire, and water - this was a hoax, i was one of those who started this joke in forum. a more appriopriate disscussion will be whether blacksword is seastone embeded
Bounty is unknown
editOkay. This write this here shall we, (not that anyone seems to be reading this page), this character has not had his bounty posted. Angel Emfrbl 21:32, 29 July 2006 (UTC)
A favour
editMihawk has displayed a mixed approach to his role of Shichibukai. On the one hand, he hunted down Don Krieg as he is expected to do as a member, but he also left Luffy and his crew alone which goes against this role of the shichibukai. It seems Mihawk also avoids attending important meetings, during one such meeting with the Marines and the Shichibukai, Don Doflamingo noted that Mihawk was the one they least expected to show up.
I can't seem to get into words what I'm trying to say here... Basically, it seems he doesn't push his role into force (I'm really having a hard time explaining it). Seriously, if there is anyone who can write this better then I can, please lend a hand here. Angel Emfrbl 14:54, 24 September 2006 (UTC)
- I'm pretty sure the first half of that was false. Didn't he hunt down Krieg because he felt like it? The second part seems like it's worded correctly. Nemu 15:03, 24 September 2006 (UTC)
- Partly, it is the duty of the shichibukai to do it, but yes he did hunt him down for fun anyway. This is one of things that bugs me about this statement I wrote. :/ Angel Emfrbl 15:25, 24 September 2006 (UTC)
- So, he takes pleasure in his "work", apparently. In my opinion, none of the revealed Shichibukai take their role seriously, but instead are pursuing their own ambitions; intimidating other pirates is a happy byproduct. They're not "employed" by the government, but "officially recognized" by them, so their "duty" is not strict. Here's what I would say (or something like this): "Mihawk is selective when it comes to fulfilling his "duties" as a Shichibukai as evidenced by his history of poor attendance at Shichibukai summons, as well as his decision to hunt and harass some pirates over others." You could then cite Don Quixote's comment at the meeting and the example of him hunting Krieg but not Luffy (or Shanks, since they seem to be friendly).pox
- Thats perfect! Angel Emfrbl 06:43, 26 September 2006 (UTC)

- I think that the Shichibukai are so powerful that none of the Marines can tell them what do to, even if they wanted to. Mihawk can most likely take on a buster call all by himself if need be, as par with most likely the rest of the Shichibukai. They do what they want because they can.
Name
editHow do I know that "Juraquille" is the name that should be used? Simple: quoting from WP:NAME:
"Generally, article naming should give priority to what the majority of English speakers would most easily recognize, with a reasonable minimum of ambiguity, while at the same time making linking to those articles easy and second nature."
As I stated:
Juraquille: ~4500 Dracule: ~1500
And, this is the kind of thing where the magic of ignoring the rules comes into play.
But, I do think that it could solve some future, currently non-existing, problems if we keep this page as "Hawkeye" Mihawk(Justyn 06:15, 3 December 2006 (UTC))
- I forgot to add this: the correct version not being shown is different from one of the terms being incorrect. Simply: Oda has never said what the correct name in English is: therefor, we do not know what the true correct version is, so we go with what the existing guidelines say to use. (Justyn 06:34, 3 December 2006 (UTC))
- Ah, but at the same time it still has to be a correct name, as outlined by WP:Google test - Remember the Tessaiga debate? The people there chose the less common Tessaiga WhisperToMe 06:35, 3 December 2006 (UTC)
- I wondered why you brought that up before, thanks for clarifying that. And "Juraquille" can be as much correct as "Dracule", they would both be written with the same katakana, correct? (Justyn 07:39, 3 December 2006 (UTC))
- Technically, no they couldn't. In order to be "Juraquille" the katakana would need to be ジュラクイール (Jurakuīru) rather than ジュラキュール (Jurakyūru) The Splendiferous Gegiford 17:42, 7 December 2006 (UTC)
- They *could* be written with the same katakana, but that doesn't mean Juraquille is more correct. WhisperToMe 17:05, 3 December 2006 (UTC)
- If they're written with the same katakana, then the obvious common sense is to use the one that reflects the author's intent of a vampire reference: Dracule. --tjstrf talk 22:15, 3 December 2006 (UTC)
- We call Mr 2. Bon Kurei "Bon Clay" when Oda clearly spelled out "MR 2 BON KUREI", that goes against Oda's intent. "Juraquille" is the most popular term by around three thousand hits, and it's as much correct as "Dracule": Wikipedia says that "Juraquille" should be used. (Justyn 00:26, 4 December 2006 (UTC))
- Correction! We use Bon Clay because no one has ever raised the point! Angel Emfrbl 00:28, 4 December 2006 (UTC)
- The Clay thing is imo an error, and your referencing it as precedant undercuts your own argument since it was a case where we chose to use a dubbed name. Give me any logical reason that Oda might have intended to name a vampire "Juraquille" rather than Dracule. --tjstrf talk 00:29, 4 December 2006 (UTC)
- How do we even know that Oda's intent was for to Mihawk to be vampiric? And I was trying to demonstrate that Wikipedia says to use the most popular terms, reguardless of the author's intent; and, we truely don't know what Oda's intent here is. And, can any of you honestly say that you have absolutly NO doubts whatsoever that Oda's intent is for his name to be "Dracule"? (Justyn 00:48, 4 December 2006 (UTC))
- I solemnly swear that Eiichiro Oda intended for Hawkeye Mihawke to be a vampire reference. I know this for the same reason Doflamingo is known to be based on a flamingo. The man sleeps in a coffin, is covered in crosses, and has a name that is synonymous with Dracula.
- Something else to realize is that even if his name were canonically Romanized Duraquille/Juraquille/any of the numerous possibilities that don't make as much sense by Oda, it wouldn't change that his name was a Japanese homophone to Dracule. Whether that meant it was a pun or simply an engrishy typo would be open to interpretation. --tjstrf talk 01:01, 4 December 2006 (UTC)
- God, this is just stupid. "Juraquille" is a fan name and doesn't even follow the Japanese katakana properly. As WhipserToMe said, it's complete fanon. You can't completely rule Wikipedia with the rationale that "fans like it more". The Splendiferous Gegiford 17:28, 7 December 2006 (UTC)

- Reseting line: Alright Geg, if Juraquille does not correctly interpret the kana, then spell it out how "Juraquille" would be written in kana. (Justyn 05:49, 9 December 2006 (UTC))

Well, I'm convinced enough to agree that this should stay; I still prefer Juraquille though. (Justyn 07:39, 10 December 2006 (UTC))- I need to speak to someone who knows phonetic transcription realy well in order to do this right. (Justyn 11:51, 10 December 2006 (UTC))

Personally, I think we should stick with Dracule until we get a confirmation. Calling him the other name causes confusion... ... On another note, anyone any idea what the Japanese version of One Piece: Grand Battle - Rush! called him? That may be our only clue. Angel Emfrbl 14:28, 3 December 2006 (UTC)
- Out of luck, they used kana.[1] --tjstrf talk 02:19, 30 March 2007 (UTC)
- Aside from linking to the Engish version of the game... What was the point there. You proved nothing at all. We're talking about Grand Battle Rush from Japan - not Grand Battle from the US. Does he need an article yet?
editDoes he really need an article as of now? You can pretty much sum up everything he has done in five sentences:
While Axe-Hand Morgan's armada was sailing into the Grand Line, for some reason, probably interupting his nap, he attacked and destroyed all but one ship in the armada. He followed them into the East Blue and destroyed their remaining ship. Zoro/Zolo challenges him to a duel, which Zoro/Zolo has no chance at and gets a large scar across his chest. Dracule then tells him to get stronger and fight him again. He later appeared at a meating with two other Shichibuki and the Marines, when he wasn't expected to come.
He hasn't done much for the plot besides be an inspiration for Zoro/Zolo to become stronger. Although you could expand on his abilities, you can alos sum those down to a few sentences. He should be put into the Shichibuki article. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Artist Formerly Known As Whocares (talk • contribs) 20:22, 6 May 2007 (UTC).
