List of Mills edit

While I appreciate the effort that has been put into adjusting the list of mills- the result is bad. The TMtr system introduces a consistency across all the List of Mills articles.

  • It separates data from appearance so if a change in format in decided at the Wikiproject Mills group- the template can be changed, and all lists change. this is a fundamental principle of Data Processing, and Semantic Web Design.
  • Additions made on one page can be cut and pasted safely back to the source page.
  • It is interchangeable with the Infobox mill building template, so when enough info has been collected on one mill in the list- it can be floated into a separate article
  • It renders correctly on all browsers- and if there is a problem in the future- the template can be fixed.

Now the rendering is broken on Firefox, instead of a list that is visible I get a blue line across the image. I don't see the value of using the image pending graphic when the real message is No image available or No image ever taken. I suggest a revert, and put down the work to experience. Perhaps you could study the templates, and advise me on how TMbegin could be adjusted to accomodate a new parameter sort=SET, to allow sorted lists in the rare cases we need them- and a new parameter hide=SETHIDE, hide=SETSHOW hide=OFF so that TMbegin does have that facility if we were to need it. Correctly done this than could be added to so many articles.(Please: work this out in a sandbox- not on the live TMbegin!) --ClemRutter (talk) 20:57, 28 April 2011 (UTC)Reply
