True, but according to the Tiksi article, the town is really loosing population fast, less than half are left since 1989...so there are probably less than 5,000 inhabitants now...Orcaborealis 16:31, 5 September 2007 (UTC)

Tiksi had in 2008 a population estimated at 5427 (see russian wikipedia), and it will still be the northernmost settlement with a population more than 5000.Karriuss (talk) 13:19, 3 July 2009 (UTC)

Just googled "Tiksi population", got mostly wikis, the few sources that at least has a named author says "under 5,000" and "3,000". Manxruler (talk) 12:21, 4 July 2009 (UTC)

panorama photo

There are many nice photos in this article. The corresponding Norwegian (bokmål, at least) article has a spectacular panorama photo attributed to Per Harald Olsen. I don't know anything about getting a photo to Commons nor about nominating it for Featured. But someone should. - Hordaland (talk) 05:27, 9 October 2009 (UTC)

Town/City

The comment in the text under "Geography" about the status of being a city or town is ridicoulous. Sounds quite US. Town/City status in European contries does not depend on any poulation numbers. If King Christian VII gave it a city charter back in 1789 the question is settled. Even if they were down to 500. Kipala (talk) 21:15, 4 May 2021 (UTC)
