Reliable sources edit

The Hamilton Spectator did not have a Wikipedia entry and as such required one to provide useful information relevant to the newspaper based in Hamilton (Vic) Australia.

While the newspaper meets the notability criteria of Wikipedia, you must remember that Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, and so should only include encyclopedic information which is validated by proper sources- it is not a place for promotion. Clovis Sangrail (talk) 05:24, 31 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

I'm sorry I totally don't understand the true meaning of Wikipedia... So in essence I could just sign up as an account with a username for myself and not the business, add all the stuff I believe is relevant (ie: similar to NY times etc etc) and there would be no problems? It's more about accurate information and I felt that by having an account based purely as a business login, this would happen better. Just to ask the question... Would I be better to sign up as a new username and just make edits that way?? There is a lot of information that should be displayed that has either been removed or taken off? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Hamspec (talkcontribs) 21:05, 31 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

The main issue is third part reliable sources. Your own say so as somebody involved is a poor source. The last thing we want is self-promotion--Grahame (talk) 23:52, 31 October 2011 (UTC)Reply
