DYK review edit

Hi there, nice article! I've come here because the article has been nominated for DYK, and some comments are more relevant to article quality than DYK requirements, so I'll post them here:

  • The lead is supposed to be a summary of the most relevant facts from the body. In this case, it's not, as it introduces facts that are not included in the article.
  • The 'Arts and culture' section could do with more wikilinks; Rathaus would be an obvious one.

There are a couple of other issues that are of relevance to this DYK nomination, so I'll post them there. I haven't watchlisted this page, so leave me a talkback if you want to discuss anything. I hope this is helpful. Schwede66 17:51, 5 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

The article does need a lot more work, there is a lot of content missing that should be there, and I'm aware that the lead is particularly bad. I only have limited free time to work on the article, and unfortunately my five days for DYK were up before I could polish the article. I do intend to carry on working on it and will fix the issues you've mentioned. Thanks for the comments! Maedin\talk 18:05, 5 January 2011 (UTC)Reply
Good stuff. The page Historischer Stadtrundgang confirms that the stork shown in the town crest is in fact the one from the façade. So you could consider adding that to the article. I've recommended the DYK nomination to become the lead hook. This is good work. Schwede66 09:32, 8 January 2011 (UTC)Reply
Thanks, Schwede, :) I'm not sure what you mean by the town crest stork being the one on the façade. They look different? Do you mean the town crest has a stork on it because of the one on the façade (or vice versa)? I thought storks were chosen as a symbol for the town because there was a colony of them nearby for a long time (but I haven't found a good reference to back this up). Der Naturschutzverband Deutschland has some information on the association with storks: [1]. I'll add the stork information to the article. Thanks for the suggestions. Maedin\talk 11:40, 8 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

The town hall of Großbottwar, a town in the Ludwigsburg district of Baden-Württemberg, Germany. The town sits within the Neckar River basin and is located on a tourist route through the Württemberg wine region. It was founded sometime during the mid-13th century by an alliance of prominent families. Unlike most towns in the region, Großbottwar was neither heavily damaged by war nor by urban fires, so there are many old buildings from the 15th through the 17th centuries with the original timber framing. The town hall itself is noted for its half-timber construction and decoratively carved façade.Photo: Felix König
