Vigilante

Since Gohan worked as the Great Saiyaman, doesn't he count as categorization under "Fictional vigilantes"? The Mario Bros. are the bomb!, 8:36, 20 June 2009

YES, he fitted the vigilante character completely. IIRC he was a university student back then. —Tokek (talk) 11:10, 27 June 2009 (UTC)

University student? Gohan was a high school student durring the Great Saiyaman arc. He attended Orange Star High School. Sarujo (talk) 16:50, 7 August 2009 (UTC)

Problem with the hat?

There is nothing ridiculous about using {{Redirect}} instead of {{For}}. It's actually more informal that way, and lets others know that "Gohan" is a redirect for this article. In addition, it shows that there is no disambiguation page for the name either. Better yet, see the ones at Son Goku (Dragon Ball), Frieza, Vegeta and List of Dragon Ball characters. No need to really dumb it down. Lord Sesshomaru (talkedits) 16:15, 27 June 2009 (UTC)

In some situations, redirect templates serve a purpose besides just informing the user that there are redirect(s) to the article. For example, at the top of Barack Obama, users are informed that "Obama" redirects to Barack Obama, and for other uses (of "Obama") see Obama (disambiguation). This clarifies that the hatnote provides disambiguation for those who searched for or were linked to "Obama," as opposed to being a disambiguation for "Barack Obama." Therefore we find the city of Obama at the disambiguation page linked from Barack Obama even though we wouldn't refer to the city as Barack Obama.
In the case of Gohan redirecting to Son Gohan, we need to disambiguate between grandson Son Gohan and grandpa Son Gohan, so we are disambiguating the article title as well. Since we are only disambiguating two characters of the same name as the article title, the need to make a distinction between the article title and the redirect title doesn't exist. And in general, we shouldn't provide all the redirects that point to any given article in a hatnote without necessity. Redirect tags present more information, but more importantly the template is used to present that additional information for a purpose. —Tokek (talk) 18:13, 27 June 2009 (UTC)
Your logic still doesn't make sense. It's just one important redirect. I could understand if it was something foolish like "Gohan", "Gohan (Dragon Ball)", and "Gohan (Dragon Ball Z)" redirect here ... etc. Yes, that would be unnecessary, the current hatlink, however, is not. Besides, the 'for' part is already included in the template I brought back. Lord Sesshomaru (talkedits) 19:33, 28 June 2009 (UTC)
I disagree with your statement that my logic doesn't make sense. Surely, it made at least some sense, did it not? Otherwise my replying to your comment was totally wasted. I can understand how we can have differences in personal editing preferences, however . BTW, "informal" → "informative." —Tokek (talk) 00:01, 30 June 2009 (UTC)

Name changes

Since Son Goku correctly changed to Goku. We should probably change this to Gohan. Anyone object?.Lucia Black (talk) 20:07, 27 December 2011 (UTC)

The only possible issue I can see would be if there is debate regarding this as the primary topic (there are a few entries on the existing Gohan dab page) but even if that was an issue we can use Gohan (Dragon Ball) so I don't see that as a major issue. The existing consensus on the Goku page should also be enough to combat any claims that this page should stay at Son Gohan since this character is not better known with the Son surname than Goku was.--70.24.207.225 (talk) 21:08, 30 December 2011 (UTC)
Very well then to change to Gohan (Dragon Ball).Lucia Black (talk) 21:40, 30 December 2011 (UTC)

Son Gohan as the strongest non-fused character?

It’s an ongoing debate among Dragon Ball fans whether Gohan has truly become the strongest non-fused character at the end of Dragon Ball Z or Dragon Ball (manga). The manga / anime itself does not give any direct answer at all. People from different campaign can make arguments by citing various conversations / combat scenes to draw conclusion from at best “indirect evidences” or at worst “no evidences” at all. The Buu arc has a fairly complex storyline but there has not been any form of formal competition that objectively compares the strength of the characters. The transformation of Majin Buu is mysterious with his change of strength subject to various controversies. It’s never shown that Gohan would be able to defeat Majin Buu’s original form even though those who have argued that Gohan who can easily overpower “stronger” form of Majin Buu should be able to defeat; however, the characters of Dragon Ball manga themselves are apparently not thoroughly convinced that is the case when they can use the wishes of Dragon Ball to make three wishes. What is clear from the manga / anime is: 1. Gohan was almost killed by Majin Buu as he was severely outmatched when he first confronted the “fat” Majin Buu. 2. After his power was unlocked, he was seemingly able to overpower the Majin Buu , who was transformed with the absorption of “fat” Majin Buu by the “angry” Majin Buu; “angry” Majin Buu was created when the “fat” Majin Buu was angry and releasing most of his power as a result. 3. After the absorption of Gotenks and Piccolo, the table turned and Gohan was defeated by Majin Buu. 4. Goku was resurrected when the defeat and death of Gohan was imminent. When the fusion of Gotenks within the Majin Buu broke down, Majin Buu managed to absorb Gohan. 5. When the every absorption was removed from Majin Buu, he returned to his original form. Some have said this “form” may be dangerous but certainly not as strong as the Majin Buu who has absorbed a lot of fighters, including Gohan. However, the manga / anime itself does not say for sure how strong this “form” is compared with other “forms”. The Kaioshins themselves said this form would be the most difficult opponent. Due to the differences in translation / interpretation, some have said the Kaioshin really meant “dangerous”. Either way, the original form is definitely not somebody that the Goku can take him lightly. 6. Goku manages to fight with Majin Buu’s “original form” evenly with his Super Saiyan 3 transformation. For unknown reasons, he cannot use his full power. When Goku’s Super Saiyan 3 transformation wears off, Vegeta proposes to use the Dragon Ball at the Planet Namek to grant his wishes with a seemingly viable plan to defeat Majin Buu. 7. Dragon Ball at the Planet Namek can grant three wishes. If the characters in the Dragon Ball, including Kaioshins, Goku, Vegeta, etc., are convinced that Majin Buu’s “non-fused” original form is weaker due to the removal of absorptions, such that Gohan could have defeated him as he was managed to overpower Majin Buu before the absorption of Gotenks and Piccolo, they can use two wishes: one for the resurrection of Gohan; two for sending Gohan to Kaioshin’s realm. Arguably, it’s a much easier option. 8. Majin Buu’s original form was eventually killed by Goku, with a Genki Dama consists of most power of the people on earth. Other than Goku’s closest friends and family, most people on earth are reluctant to give up their powers as they do not trust Goku, it is until Mr. Satan stepped in. Betting on Genki Dama and Goku was risky when the fate of universe is at stake. To me personally, I do not see why they would not try an easier or safer option, if they truly want to rescue the universe from Majin Buu. 9. Regarding the strength of Majin Buu’s original form, some have not convinced that it’s in fact the strongest form of Majin Buu. Nevertheless, its strength is immense and beyond imagination as it is able to push back the Genki Dama which consists of most power of most people of earth, including Gohan’s. Within the anime series or manga, it’s never shown any character has been able to push back Genki Dama that is directed to him, other than Majin Buu. Further, this Genki Dama is certainly the strongest version shown in the manga, second strongest shown in the anime series. The third wish was granted to restore Goku’s full power. With Goku’s full power restored, he managed to overpower Majin Buu by transforming into Super Saiyan. 10. In the early of the Dragon Ball manga / anime series, Goku participated in the martial arts tournament that would decide the strongest man on earth. As the series goes on, the focus turns to the battle against the greatest evils on earth or universe. From the beginning of the Buu’s arc, the focus was always to defeat Majin Buu. 11. Being deceased from his sacrifice to rescue earth from Cell, other characters, such as Gohan, Gotenks, Vegeta, etc., are those who would fight and potentially defeat Majin Buu. Goku did briefly fight Majin Buu’s “fat form” when he was allowed to briefly return to earth while he was still dead. Apparently, he did not go all out as he was not supposed to take the responsibilities as he was already dead. 12. Many, including myself, have anticipated that the author would find a way to bring Goku back to defeat Majin Buu. Last but not least, I would hope that Dragon Ball fans do not put personal arguments at Wikipedia as it’s not a place for original research. If you want to argue for Gohan, you can do so at other places such as forum or your personal web site. Thljcl (talk) 03:55, 16 April 2012 (UTC)

Gohan and Yamcha's similarities

It has been discovered in many sites in this recent years: Through he can turn to ssj1,2, but, Gohan resembles Yamcha:

1.Both use swords as weapons at first.

2.Both wear bandanas on foreheads at first.

3.Future Gohan and Yamcha have scars on their faces.

4.At android Saga, Yamcha delivers Goku back to home, Gohan delivers Bulma, Trunks, Yajirobe back.

5.When bringing the ill Goku to Turtle house, Both have volitions to react Trunks and suggest useful suggestions inside the plane.

6.Anime only, during the resting before Cell game and after the Cell game, Gohan wears a white clothe, similar to that of Yamcha's white clothe in DB super.

7.Both's left arms are broken during the Cell game.(if excluding future Gohan's).

8.Both are considered good baseball players.

9.Before Buu appears, Gohan wears yellow clothe to date his schoolmate Angela(anime only), then Yamcha wears yellow clothe to go to watch the tournament.

10.Their hairstyles through out the series are similar except Yamcha's last hairstyle during the last tournament in DBZ but Videl has that hairstyle at GT.

Much more Gohan goes lazy as Yamcha and turns weak at DB super.

Answer:

a), The saiyan Goku never knows about sex, Yamcha teaches him how to intercourse with ChiChi.(Women absorb DNA and cells from every male they ever have had sexual intercouse with (science proved)).

b), Yamcha sleeps and dreams, accidently uses the method of his spirit ball skill to control and put his cells into ChiChi's womb.

c), Just as Roshi is Baba's sibling. Yamcha is Chichi's long lost cousin once removed (best answer, no strange evil thought). Yamcha's hideout is also near to the firemountain(B3-3, C3-1), as the author stated that Ox king and Yamcha are best cooks in the series.

So Gohan resembles Yamcha. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 60.246.170.199 (talk) 13:18, 29 July 2016 (UTC)

Gohan (Dragon Ball)Gohan – I would like to move this name to the new one per WP:COMMONNAME. IMO, the name Gohan is very well known for this character. 1989 (talk) 17:19, 23 January 2017 (UTC)

  • Support looking at the dab page this seems to be the clear primary topic here. I doubt that many typing in Gohan would be looking for Grampa Gohan, the Romanian river article is literally one sentence, and I doubt that many looking up cooked Rice would look it up by typing Gohan. Unless I am overlooking something or there is another major topic so far uncovered I don't see this as particularly controversial.--64.229.167.158 (talk) 04:14, 24 January 2017 (UTC)
