Potential Secondary Sources

edit

If anyone is looking for secondary sources of information that should be added to this page, the wiki page of the game that is within the game has lots cited articles: https://wiki.godvillegame.com/Godville_(game). BlueStapler-Godville (talk) 09:25, 29 March 2018 (UTC)Reply

A lot of those are unreliable (as is Wikia itself). There is a search for reliable sources available at WP:VG/S. -- ferret (talk) 10:26, 29 March 2018 (UTC)Reply
But not all of them are officially unreliable. In addition to the currently cited sources, there is also the Pocket Gamer article, which is under the reliable section: Wilson, Will (March 21, 2011). Godville handing out blessings on Android. Pocket Gamer. BlueStapler-Godville (talk) 18:24, 29 March 2018 (UTC)Reply
I looked at this one but it doesn't add anything new to what is already present. Izno (talk) 21:41, 14 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

Revert

edit

From my talk page:

Hello! This was a while back now, but I see you reverted my edit to the page Godville, adding the information that the game is in ongoing development/expansion. For an article about a video game that came out the better part of a decade ago, this seems to me like relevant information. Also, should the article really be written in the past tense like it is? It's about a video game, not a dead historical figure or terminated past event. If you agree that the tense is an issue, I might just do a rewrite. YarLucebith (talk) 05:49, 12 September 2017 (UTC)

@YarLucebith: You were reverted for two reasons: a) the use of a primary source and b) to make a WP:SYNTHETIC claim. I agree that the game is continuing to be supported; your source does not say that directly. My use of primary sources in writing the article was strictly limited to release dates for the platforms mentioned, as no reliable, secondary, source picked up on those dates. This is within the realms of WP:SELFPUB. If you want to make a claim similar to the one you made, you need to have a reliable source which says as much.

I do not see any issues with tense in this article. There may be specific issues you are picking up, but I cannot identify any immediately. Some things, such as reception, will always be in the past tense, because we cannot say those things are occurring in the present tense. Release must also be in the past tense for the same reason--those things have happened, not are continuing to occur. Gameplay and other features of the game are in present tense, of course, because they are indeed part of a game which can still be played. --Izno (talk) 12:31, 12 September 2017 (UTC)Reply

Zero-player game

edit

Since the description says that the player has the ability to influence the hero and, thus, the progression of the game, can it really be said to be a zero-player game? It seems to optionally be a zero-player game in that the player can choose to do nothing and the game will progress. -- Hux (talk) 07:57, 8 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

Or it is optionally a "1-player" game. There is a reference to it being a 0-player. --Izno (talk) 08:54, 8 February 2021 (UTC)Reply
