Notable person edit

Gisle Hannemyr is the #1 resource person in Norwegian media with respect to anything to do with Internet, and I believe this in itself should be sufficient to secure notability. He has written various books on the subject, and is also a professor at the University of Oslo. The article is old, and according to out-of-date wikipedia guidelines, and definitely needs a cleanup. -- Egil (talk) 18:40, 11 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

  • Hey there! While a relatively new editor placed an A7 (he didn't recognize the importance and/or significance of the subject), an administrator appropriately declined the suggested deletion. I don't think there are any seasoned editors actually questioning Hannemyr's notability or supporting deletion. At this point, the article doesn't need cleanup, but several statements made need clarification and additional references or inline citations to support specific claims made. Can you provide any sources that would help? Based on your statement above, I will work on adding a section of books that he wrote. (Possibly tomorrow, since I'm about out the door for a Christmas party.) If you can add anything else, please feel free to jump in! Best regards, Cind.amuse (Cindy) 22:54, 11 December 2011 (UTC)Reply
  • I am the subject, and I understand it is against Wikipedia guidelines to edit an article about yourself (I fixed a broken link tho'). Examples of Internett related businesses I've co-founded are Hannemyr Nye Medier, Morell Software, and Exense (bought by Inmeta ASA). The guru-paragraph does not belong in an encyclopedia and should IMHO be deleted. As for notable activities, I was a member of the Privacy Commission set up by the Norwegian Government (2007-2008) - http://www.regjeringen.no/nb/dep/fad/pressesenter/pressemeldinger/2007/Lunde-leder-av-Personvernkommisjonen.html?id=468399 , and co-wrote NOU 2009:1 - Individ og integritet: Personvern i det digitale samfunnet - http://www.regjeringen.no/nn/dep/fad/Dokument/NOU-ar/2009/nou-2009-1.html?id=542049 . I am now serving in Personvernnemnda - http://www.personvernnemnda.no/. As for free culture, I have since 2008 been the public lead of the Norwegian chapter of Creative Commons: http://www.creativecommons.no/node/2. The citations requested for the awards are actually listed (but not referenced) in the bullet list below the article. As for my writings, see these pages: http://heim.ifi.uio.no/gisle/content_en/biblio.html and http://heim.ifi.uio.no/gisle/content_no/biblio.html . Hope some of this is useful. gisle h.
