There are three different birth years given in the article:
1899 in the lede
1889 in the biography section
1898 in the birth category
The last reference (to Kunstindeks Danmark/Weilbachs Kunstnerleksikon) is to an online artist lexicon, the earliest edition of which (1878) would seem to be the best source. The other two references don't mention Hempel's birth year at all (in one case I don't think the page mentions Hempel at all). So I wanted to check with other editors before I made any changes. Is the Kunstindeks link enough justification to change/align the birth year or should there be a second source to firm it up?; 1899 is mentioned on Hempel's Kunstindeks page. --FeanorStar7 (talk) 05:31, 14 July 2020 (UTC)Reply
