There doesn't seem to be any talk on Garvagh so I thought I would start it. My name is Aidan Conway my father owned the Canning Arms Bar for many years. I now live in Australia. The Wikipedia site says the Garvagh Forest is about 2 square kilometers, I know everything looks bigger as a child but from the many years wrecking through the forest with friends I would say its considerably larger then 2 sq kilometers, from memory entering at the Bridger at the top of the town it stretched way beyond the Green Bridge, out to what we called the sand hills and away round out the Limivady Road past the Blue Gate". I would say out that end its several kilometers long, I would be interested to hear from all the local Garvagh "googlers" who might be able to shed some light on the matter.
