Epic Theatre

edit

Is there any source for the claim, that Dürrenmatt was a 'proponent of epic theatre'? I highly doubt this claim, as Dürrenmatt and Brecht while using similar styles to address the same problems had quite different purpose in making theater, Brecht using it to transport an ideology, while Dürrenmatt always insisted to tell a story not a thesis.

"A story is not finished, until it has taken the worst turn."

I cannot seem to find the source of this quote, other than [1] here, which is listed as the source on the wikiquote.

The problem is, that here is what that website says:

This is in keeping with Dûrrenmatt's often quoted comment that "a story is not finished, until it has taken the worst turn."

Without giving its source. Since I cannot find this quote anywhere else (even if I try translating it into German), I propose that it be removed as an unsourced quote. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 132.230.190.47 (talk) 13:28, 8 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

It's a bad translation of "Eine Geschichte ist dann zu Ende gedacht, wenn sie ihre schlimmstmögliche Wendung genommen hat." from 21 Punkte zu den Physikern. I'll remove it as it serves little purpose, though I can put it back with a proper translation if anyone objects. Dangermao (talk) 14:04, 6 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Frank the Fifth

edit

Duerrenmatt wrote an amusing play, Frank the Fifth, about a completely corrupt Swiss private bank. Not surprisingly, it's not popular with various people. This should be added to the Wikipedia list of his selected works. --Devokewater (talk) 09:24, 27 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
